A couple ofmy buddies have expressed interest in this gme but we have no idea where to start. I personally love flying units and have noticed tge planes, helicopters, and the flying guy "Sgt. Victory". Can anyone make some suggestions for some strter armies, preferrably ones with flying units?

the SSU currently have the only flying units. The Axis Jet should be next, followed by Sgt Victory in the Icarus box for Tactics, and then the Allied jet comes out late spring/early summer. The best place to always start if you're just getting in, is the Revised Core Set, which is the best deal for the most starting models and build up your forces from there.
Wow. I cannot believe that there has not been a ton of response; normally, the guys here looooooooove army list suggestions. The Allied force has a heavy platoon that features a lot of heavy powered armor with jump packs - no kidding, rocket packs! Try them. Also, we can hope that some day in the future the company will put out the experimental rocket troopers (Rakatentruppen) for the Germans.
Alas, the Allies are the only army with jump units, and the only army with helicopters is the SSU. And no-one has airplanes yet (even though all three armies feature some wicked AAA units).
Start with revised core set.
right out of box allies lack ranged units so getting tank busters might fix things if axis will field more tanks than you you will have means to protect yourself. Next I would buy medium tank for axis, that should make things interesting .
both factions would benefit from type 3 machinegun infantry. add snipers they are good, later on I would add command sections, assoult platoons (the ones in the box) cannot field medium walkers (axis can but not all variants) which are versatile and next buy on my list, then add lvl 2 infantry as cannon fooder (they cost peanuts), that should give you a lot of options like artillery, snipers and observers, at units etc. then look at zombies for axis and hero packs, mind you gorillas are better with their hero which is part of tactics expansion, worth to buy it? You decide. when you get this, flyers probably will be out by now. Happy gaming
I don't fellas, I am totally digging the Zombie Clown Car Attack. Looking forward to backing it up when the Axis Jets come out.
But otherwise, I agree. Get the Starter Set. It is a good deal.
Or just do what I have done so far, pick a faction, and get what looks cool. From hat I have founf there is nothing that is completly useless in this game, but be aware that my crazy idea could leave your list lacking in some balance. A couple of walkers a hero or two, and a couple or more infantry squads make for a good base to start.
That approach is great at first and I strongly encourage it. However, it breaks down as soon as someone puts down Vehicle 7 or an attack chopper on the table and you don't own any of the 2 or 3 viable counters to it. Revised core set is the place to start and you have to use your brain when expanding from there.
