Spending monster trophies

By Herald, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi,

this may be silly question but when I spend monster trophies where do they go? To monster cup or back into box?

Thanks a lot.

They always go directly to the Monstercup.

I was confused by Ancient One awaking condition "no monsters in the cup" but I suppose that must be the case when players have all monsters as trophies (like gates).

It can also happen at the Terror Level of 10, when the Monster Limit goes away.

Well once the terror level is at 10, the Ancient Ones awakens when there are twice as many monsters in play as the original monster limit. For example, in a 4-investigator game, the AO will awaken if there are 14 monsters in Arkham. You're a lot more likely to fall victim to this effect than to run out of trophies.

The out-of-trophy-awaken was just put in place as a failsafe for when you're completely dominating the game. Just because you've killed so many monsters shouldn't mean that none more will appear, to no effect.
