23: I should play with 3 piles right? ( discard, dead and out of play). If a card is out of play and unique i can play another correct?
24. Player A wins a mil challenge with a deadly character and a claim of one against two defenders. Player B discards a duplicate on one card for claim. Can that same card be killed for claim or can I character only be saved once? Another way to say this is say Sir Davos was in a challenge and had to satisfy a deadly character with mil claim of two. Can he discard three gold to stay in play?
23. Not sure what the "out-of-play" pile you're referring to is. Normally, this is not an area on the table, no. Special circumstances such as the new agenda Black Sails and one of the sand snakes (can't remember which one… starts with an "O") create out of play areas. Not sure about the sand snake… her text reads (and I'm paraphrasing) that if she is in your hand after you mulligan, you can remove her from the game to take another mulligan. As far as the new agenda, if there is a unique character in "the Hold," and you have another copy in your hand to play, feel free.
24a. On this first part of the question, if you have two characters (one unique with a dupe), and you're defending with both… you choose the unique for claim and discard the dupe, but then you have to kill one of the defenders for deadly as this is a seperate mechanic of the challenge resolution. A character can be saved as many times as you have the cards and resources to provide.
24b. If Ser Davos is your only character on the board, you would spend 2 gold to save him. One for claim (a character can only be chosen once for MIL claim, no matter how high that claim is) and one for deadly. Bearing in mind that a character can only be chosen once for claim, though, if you had any other characters on the board, you must choose one of them for the second kill from the claim of the challenge (you may still apply any saves appropriate for the second character)
