Your own personal Xeno-Breeds

By TheSaylesMan, in Dark Heresy

Hey all.

I've recently gotten my hands on the "create your own xeno" rules and have gotten curious. What kinds of unearthly abominations have you guys been making? I'm also curious because I'd like to compile a book of random xeno breeds that would be penned by a xenophilic heretic. Comming up with the sheer amount of info would be incredibly hard alone so I was looking for a tad bit of help. I'm looking for anything. From Calixas and beyond. Intelligent or beastial. A basic overview of physiology and behavior. Stats are completely optional.

I figure I might as well get the ball rolling. The system of Cirvil has no habitable worlds but it can support life. It is home to a stangely dense asteroid belt that by some quirk of fate has an atmosphere and can support life. These life forms are extremely bizzare and have adapted to an existance with no liquid water, night or day. One of the more conventional creatures by human standard is the Float-Nest Burrower Worm. It is able to excrete a substance akin to cement which it uses to cobble together multiple asteroids. Its purpose in doing so is to attract other creatures with the promise of a large and stable territory. As creatures settle in, the nest of Burrower Worms will identify them with tremor sense, wait for more of its kind to perhaps show up and then launch into a feeding frenzy with its kin.

As for intelligent species, I have whipped up a more orginized/centralized civillization to pose as a threat. They are Leier (pronounced Lee-er). Physically they are hairless and wrinkled and have the build of a gorrila. Their elongated heads share more in common with beavers than any primate however. They are a species that has deveoped the concept of clothing which fuels a lot of Imperial propoganda about covering up their loathesome forms. They are a reletively young race. They came to power after the events of the Horus Heresy. It is a matriarchal society as well as a polytheistic one. Their veiw of the universe is that it is inherently hostile and their religion reflects it. They do not so much as worship but appease a number of major and minor powers to allow them to survive. In reality, the beings they pay tribute to are very real warp entities. They honor a collection of minor daemons that have interacted with their race in the past, but their major worship goes towards the major warp powers. Strangely enough, in addition to the 4 Dark Gods, this species reveres the Emperor as a being they call the Aquilla and the twin Orkish Gods Gork and Mork though under different names. Whether they assimilated these gods from contact with Orks and Humans or have genuinely seen the effect of their wills in the material world is hard to determine. They worship no one god more than the other because they feel that doing so would call down the wrath of all the others. Anyone who would call down the wrath of the gods must be eliminated for the sake of all life. For this reason they erradicate all religions and cult of any species based around the worship of a single being. They have launched their own crusades into Imperial space for this very reason.

Now, what things have you concocted?

Interesting aliens you've got there. I especially like the leier, they make me grin. Funny about calling down the wrath of gods, since Gork and Mork (as well as Khorn) are pretty much all about wrath. Although it's a nice cultural determination, you've not really painted a picture of what they are that couldn't be mistaken for a human offshoot. Maybe if they didn't wear clothes then they could quite clearly not be mistaken for abhumans or mutants.

I haven't seen the rules for making your own grusome creatures yet. In the new Creatures of Anathema book I suspect?

I was at one point creating something that was an inversion of the beasties from Riddick and the whole, evil is darkness. The idea is some kinda nasty beast (somewhat batlike or insect like) that lives on a planet in a binary(/trinary ?) star system. The planet is very close to the stars (ref. Necron codex) and as a result the planet is always very well lit by at least one sun. The preditors that result have eyes that are aclimatised to very high levels of light.

For some strange reason (warp storm/cataclismic event/being dormant on a transport) a colony of these creates get to whereever the characters are. They are fearce preditors and hunt as a swarm, killing many of the local popluation (or just chasing the acolytes round a space hulk, etc). The creatures have virtially no ability to see in dark places due to their light adapted eyes. The players must realise this and start to move around sticking only to the darkness if they wish to survive.

Im not sure what to do, but I have this adventure idea involving genestealers (or possibly genestealer hybrids). Although certainly not my own creation im thinking of modifying them a little in order to suit a particularly disturbing twist in the plot involving these creatures. Mainly I intend to replace the so called "ovipostors" (which infect humans thorugh genestealer bites), with the genestealers having relatively "human" reproductive organs (which isnt exactly canon).

Why I intend for them to have this is because the adventure idea im toying with is suppose to involve the rather disturbing aspects of human/tyranid crossbreeding. The reason for this is because, lets face it, genestealers are HEAVILY inspired from xenomorphs (the Alien-movies), but the symbolism in H.R Gigers original concept of the creature was heavily sexualized (the elongated head resembling a male reproductive organ. The facehuggers intrusive way of impregnating humans resembling **** quite obviously, and even the way the xenomoprhes use their "tounge" to kill or harm resembles a sort of disturbing french-kissing). However some of these overtones have been removed from the genestealers (making them a little too "kid-friendly" in my opinion). I want my adventure to play on these distubring overtones (the main reason is to freak my players out of course XD), therefore I must do some sort of modification to the current genestealers.

You people of a more squemish personality might not appriciate this sort of thinking, but what the hell, someone might like the idea. So there it is, however not quite fleshed out properly but im getting there soon enough.

I have a race of Xenos Called the Skee. They about 5 foot tall Dark gray skin and a mouth full of teeth and a hand full of claws. In My game they where first encountered and thought of as Ferial beasts. But they are anything but. The Skee have an ancient culture that goes back long before the Eye of Terror. As the advent of the Horus Heresy was going on the whole race awakened psychically and there worlds where invaded by Chaos, all but destroying there society. When the whole race dreams they can see the warp, so when the Emperor was ensconced in the Golden Throne there was a new bright light in the Warp. This gave the Skee the inner strength to over through the Chaos powers on a few worlds and free them selves. So now they worship the Emperor without knowing it calling him the Light in the Darkness. The Skee are very powerful psychers and use a very strange tech call will crystal. They can shape it into anything they need and the Machine Spirit inside attunes to the users soul.
