playing around with A-wing ideas

By executor, in X-Wing

so i placed 4th last night at my kessel run and walked away with an A-wing
now normally i am an imperal player, but after seeing the A-Wings and what they can do; i instantly became a fan and most likely going to switch to rebel

i've been toying with an idea that i'm not 100% sure on, but on paper it looks pretty solid

List is as follows: 100pts

Wedge Antilles: with R5-K6
Arvel Crynyd
Green Squadron Pilot: with Homing Missles
Prototype Pilot: with Homing Missles

or i sub out the Green Squadron Pilot for a secondary Prototype Pilot and Put Swarm Tactics on Wedge (trying to decide which would be better and sort of leaning towards option B)

the idea of this is to get range to blast off a couple missles once in range and take out 2 ships (or badly damage) and then finish off a ship with wedge to put the game in my favor

the next phase would be to push Arvel right up into the face of a named enemy pilot that is going to be a threat and blast at range one

the only thing i'm worried about though; is if Arvel is going to be worth the points? as he is likely going to get killed outright for getting up so close to the enemy forces (though hopefully those homing missels have already taken out 2 threats) although denying one attacker on him

comments and critizism is welcome and any help will do

If your going to stick Arvel in peoples faces he needs a little extra protection so I might try:

  • Wedge w/R5

  • Arvel w/Stealth Device

  • Prototype Pilot w/Homing Missiles x2

When I saw the A-wing stats, move dial and actions, they instantly founda spot in my heart.
And I've been thinking of an all A-wing list, with missiles!

Green Wing missile rage! 100:

  • Arvel w/ Cluster Missiles
  • Green sqd w/ Veteran Instincts, Assault Missiles
  • Green sqd w/ Veteran Instincts, Homing Missiles
  • Green sqd w/ Cluster Missiles

Since they are so nimble and manouvrabel, I think that you should maybe be able to get in good positions to fire those missiles and then continue with an attack with your main weapons and then speed away or continue to outmanouvre the enemy. Also those veteran instincts give you 2 x ships with pilotskill 5, quite handy in firing first. ;)

i have not seen the stealth device card yet and can't find a picture on google, but i assume it's a pilot upgrade card and arvel can only use a missle upgrade card

Stealth Device is a new ship upgrade card which can be placed on any ship.

Stealth Device: Increase your agility value by 1. If you are hit by an Attack. Discard this card. (3 points)

Shield Upgrade: Increase your shield value by 1. (4 points)

Engine Upgrade: Your action bar gains the Boost icon. (4 points)

great, thanks

side note, seeing as stealth is worth 3 points that would put my list to 101 pts :(

R5-K6 = 2 points

Just R5 - 1 point…….R5-K6 really isn't neccesary for wedge
