Plays well with 2?

By Luftwaffe Flak, in Red November

Title pretty much says it all, how does this play with two people?

It will be a task sine it will be harder to beat the clock brfore you sink.

I would suggest each play two gnomes each. The game will proceed much faster with fewer gnomes, i.e. less than eight. Otherwise, you should be fine. This game can also be played solitaire. You can control up to eight gnomes...hectic, but do able.

BTW...I like your avatar!

Thanks VonEpp on both accounts :D .

But you don't think playing with just two gnomes will be easy/feasible?

seeing as the game is meant to play 3-8 players, I think that the only way for two to play logically, without too many mods to the rules is to control two gnomes each totaling four players. True you can play solitaire but it takes the "Crowbarring" another gnome out of the game, cant really screw the rest of the players if its just you, Then again I guess you'll always will.

That last sentence is supposed to read that you will always win, by using a scuba mask, and escaping the submarine.

I have found that this game is quite fun with two players, each controlling one gnome. I haven't played with the 'crazed gnome variant', so I am not sure how that would affect play...

I have found that playing with two people is easier, as less events are generated, so in order to make it more fun, we usually draw 1-2 event cards each, before the start of the game. It also gives you something to work on right away, rather than waiting for stuff to happen.

I've played solitaire a couple times just to explore the mechanics, and while in some respects it is a lot easier, the timed events are a lot more likely to be fatal, if you don't have the appropriate book, you'll have to roll well to survive.

Fortunately, this is one game I think I can get my whole family into. But failing that, I'm glad there are solitaire possibilities.

I have played Red November a few times with 5 players and only once as a two player game. You can play it as a two player game without any mods but it seems to get a lot easier. As a two player game a lot of the tension is lost and it significantly reduces the fun-factor of the game.

I played it solitaire several times (just to get into the mechanism before trying to play it with my girlfriend...) using 3 gnomes.

It´s a lot of fun - unfortunately I lost each game...

Controlling multiple gnomes really is the answer.

The first time I played I controlled 3 gnomes by myself to teach myself the rules and had a blast.

Second time was the wife and I with 2 gnomes each and also had a great experience.
