Sane surviving investigators and score

By Cheshire Cat3, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I am wondering about a discussion concerning the game score of investigators (recently on boardgamegeek if I remember correctly): the conclusion was that any investigator left after victory corresponds to 1 additional point.

Until then it was my undestanding that the *sane* part of "surviving investigators" was relevant. Meaning to contribute a point the investigator needs maximum sanity.

Did I over-interpret? (Four points of my league play on the line, so ...)

Thanks in advance!

"Sane, surviving" was a bad choice of wording on the designers' behalf. In essence, when you win, you get 1 point for each investigator that wasn't killed during final battle. If you won by some method other than final combat, then you get a point for every investigator.

Technically, "sane" means "not insane," and "insane" means 0 sanity. So I wouldn't consider an investigator who has less than maximum sanity "insane."

Would you have prefered "not institutionalizably insane"? ;')

:-) I was thinking along the same lines …

While I can follow the concept of “insane equals 0 sanity”, what mislead me was that I could not find a state in the game where an investigator actually existed with 0 sanity. Other than in the transition to the asylum that is, where he/she immediately gains 1 sanity (talking about efficient psychiatrists there), and being devoured, which is a state of its own.
