Nice thanks!
This is serving pretty well. Room for Wave 2 ships in it as well.

this thread again lol
Sorry I did a forum search and did not see it
I'm using the Plano 3952 Double Sided Organizer. I use one side for Imps and the other for Rebs. And lots of space for wave 2 as well.
You people suck! I use myself a cardboard box with sections made out of other bits of cardboard because I am hardcore! (And not very wealthy)
Battlefoam do X-Wing variants, cool. I shall have to buy some soon.
Currently, I have a big cardboard card box, that is divided into 4 rows. Each ship pack and the Core Set has the models placed inside a little plastic container. I just removed the plastic container (and the 3-pack from Core) and place those inside the rows of the box. They fit perfectly, and I'll be able to get all my A-Wings and TIE Interceptors in there before it's full.
The plastic shells also have a spot for the base, and I include the stem pegs in there as well, so each shell can be opened and used as needed, without disturbing the rest of the models. It's no fancy foam solution, but since it cost me all of 5 dollars, I'd say it's working quite well for the value.
I'll just need another box or something for the Falcon/Slave I.

Overkill?
2 core boxes are serving me well so far but I plan on getting the battlefoam system soon
I also plan on using the battle foam kit. This is a decent small battle foam kit that fits right in the starter box. No room for expspantion 2 ships tho.

Its also pretty cheap!

I was excited for this until I discovered the $9.45 shipping cost. It's foam. For the core box. Neither heavy nor large.

If I had intended to only buy ships from Wave 1, probably. In planning ahead for Wave 2 and beyond, not at all. The small slide-in boxes on the sides hold the tokens and number counters. The top level holds dice, templates, Rulebook, printed squad lists, and a folded up 3'x3' MKP playmat. Currently have Rebels in one slide in box (ships, bases, pilot cards and chits, damage deck, and lock tokens) and Imps in the second. The third is waiting for Wave 2 ships.
i buy 100 points of each ship, so definitely not overkill for the future. And at $40, was well worth it.

I have seen the http://www.planomolding.com/product.php?BCCID=110&PID=657 at Walmart and it looks like a good choice. The sort master junior I use was also purchased at Walmart. I have 3 and you can lock them together.

This holds my two core sets and six expansions with room to spare, has room in the bottom for a Falcon and a Slave I, and I got mine at K-Mart for all of nine bucks.
plano guide system 7771
holds everything i have so far with plenty of room for expansion.
all dials, range rulers, movement templates, cards, small ships
and has room in the top section for 2 falcons and 2 slave 1

Do you line the trays with anything? or is there enough storage for each ship in it's own plastic container that it arrived in.
not enough space for the smaller ships in the original plastic.
i just put the small ships in the plastic cases that go in the bottom. they are a good fit and dont rattle around too much.
the only ships i left in the plastic were the falcon and slave 1 because i didnt want them rattling around and the top section hols them just right.
I ordered the larger Battle Foam option and just got it in today. Pretty awesome stuff, and everything fits well. The only trouble is that the thickness is meant for the large Wave 2 ships and the TIE Fighters, so the other snub fighters end up a bit lost, making it a bit difficult to get them out again. (I find storing them upside down helps because then you can grab the peg base.
The second layer has plenty of room to store everything. The cards fit well, even with sleeves. My only complaint is that they give you a lot of long rectangles for storage, that would have been more useful to have subdivided. After all, as long as you have one big enough for the range ruler, you're set.
I was impressed when I saw this on boardgamegeeks: http://boardgamegeek.com/video/22419/star-wars-x-wing-miniatures-game/x-wing-storage-if-you-are-not-doing-it-this-way . Considering it looked both like a solid case and reasonably priced. Still have an issue with it's size though.
I'm trying to figure out something to work with what I already have around. I'm considering canabalizing a case from a poker chip set for carrying them around in safe secure foam. Putting my x-wing anywhere else seems like tempting fate. I swear that thing is gonna break to pieces before it's a month old.

Your X-Wing loses an attack die for each laser cannon that breaks off.
Just using a small plastic tub with snap on lid. Plenty of room for the two core sets and one each of the original add-ons.
I keep the ships in their original plastic cases.
Everything else is bagged.
VERY inexpensive at $3 from Target.
I just found this great Plano Aluminum Tool Box at WalMart (Model 937014). I only have one BattleFoam insert but it will surely hold 1 more and might even have space for a third. There is a little bit of space on the side to throw a few extras. It only cost $20.
