1/270 Scale CR-90 Corvette and EF76 NEBULON-B ESCORT FRIGATE plans in 1/270 scale.

By Boomer_J, in X-Wing

I finished my initial version of the Rebel Medium Transport, and am considering giving the Nebulon B the same treatment... after I finish a couple other projects. Hey MF, have you finished tidying up your papercraft of the Nebulon B?

As to not pollute this thread, my GR-75 can be viewed here:

Yours looks fantastic!!! It’s a whole lot better than mine. I think I will redo mine in plastic.

Look at what Wonderwagon made it’s awesome!!!!

I can’t get motivated. I haven’t worked on anything in months. I don’t know to continue with my Nebulon B, redo a CR-90, do a scale Rebel Medium Transport, or start a scale Vigil-Class Corvette.

:(

My vote go for:
Vigil-Class Corvete :)

Vigil-class Corvette.

I think it's time to get back to work on my Nebulon B.

I just got my new CR90 and thought I should do a size comparison of my 1/270 scale CR90 with the new FF CR90. I love the FF model by the way!

So what do you all think about the size difference?

The one on the left is bigger.

Seriously, I love your work - excellent!

It's a big difference, but man, your 270 scale looks perfect!

Wow quite a difference, have you worked out the scale of the FFG one?

I'm going to punch a wall this is too amazing

I kinda wish ya didn't show a size comparison...now when i look at my corvette the only thing i'll think is..."it's too small."

Scale of the FFG CR-90 is about 450:1. Google can do math with units conversion, you just need to measure the physical model... should be 13" vs 150 meters.

Honestly, when you see the Corvette on the field it still looks amazing. And is a beast.

When they make the star destroyer, I hear that the ratio is going to be 3,720:1...

NEVER TELL ME THE SCALES

So, um...

How's that frigate coming along?

Slow! I need some motivation to get back to it. :(

I have been getting some questions via E Mail on how I made the CR-90 so here is the step by step process.

This is how I made the plastic CR-90 in 1:270 scale.

First you need the paper plans: http://www.starwars.pl/stuff/tf/modele/corvettapepakura.zip

You will need to download Pepakura Viewer 3 to view it and print it out:

http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/download/viewer.html

Then to get it to 1/270 scale from my printer I had to go to OfficeMax and have them enlarge it by 136%

This is what I did for the core shape. I printed and enlarged the plans like stated earlier on paper. Then I cut out the plans and used Elmer’s rubber cement to past the pattern on to styrene sheets. I used the rubber cement because it was easy to peel the paper off the styrene after the parts where cut out. I had to do some modifications to the core to get the shape I wanted.

Once I had the core shape I added the plating, piping and greeble.

I used sheet styrene from Evergreen scale models and Plastic card from Litko. I use the 0.4mm and 1.0mm thick sheets.

Sorry I can’t get the center core tube measurements due to the fact that the fins are in the way. But I made the tube from the plans with sheet styrene. The tube is just a flat sheet rolled. The paper plans have this part also but it’s in two sections. I just made one long section by cutting a longer sheet and rolling it.

To get the plating just print out another set of plans and glue them to some styrene like before and cut the plates out. Now you can glue the plates to the core after it is built.

So in summary:

· Download plans

· Download Pepakura Viewer 3

· Print out plans and enlarge them by 136%. You will need two sets of plans.

· Cut and laminate to styrene with rubber cement. Then cut and peel off paper.

· Assemble the parts to get your core shape.

· With your second set of plans cut and laminate to styrene with rubber cement. Then cut out you plating and peel off paper.

· Add plating to the core.

· Add piping and greeble.

· Clean model and paint.

I hope this helps.

I started work again on my EF-76. I decided to go with balsa wood for the core shapes that hang down from the fore part of the ship. I will sand and blind them when I get more of it done. This is the part of the ship that kept me from making any progress. I could not decide how I was going to make it. I think balsa wood is the way to go.

Back in the saddle... good.

:)

I am about to get back in mine too with my Epic ships. I am just waiting until next two weeks to see what in the heck FFG did for the Empire's Hugies.

Me to. Probable a Nebulon b frigate :)

Really nice work.

Great to see you back on track Boomer! :)

You know, I think there must be a collective mind thing going on here because along with you, joe boss and several others I have also recently had the urge to start building SW stuff again! Built a space station last night, got a Venetar, runner and ISD kit lined up for a corvette, gunship and dread mod and made some debris fields over the last few days...stop inspiring me with your excellent work, there aren't enough hours in the day (or night)!

Back in the saddle... good.

Man I hope so... so I don't have to build the **** thing!

If they do (and they just might) keep in mind that your model will be different enough that you can use both versions.
