Where did you happen to find that piece. 1/300 looks close enough for pretty cool gameplay. Let us know how it works in a game.

What scenario would you use that in, besides the obvious escort one. Also, what size base and movement (if any)?

I am trying to determine if I should buy the GR-75 "Rebel Transport playset" from Micro Machines, or the Rebel Base model set to get the GR-45. Both are about the same cost. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which is a better purchase?

GR-75 ERTL Battle of Hoth Playset = 1/370 scale

The ERTL transport model is a true scale model listed at 1/150 scale, but isn't. If you use it as a GR-45 it would be about 1/245 scale but would have secondary drive engines in the back. If you look closely at the one shown in “A New Hope”, at Mos Eisley, in the enhanced film version. It seems to only have one large reactor cowl at the rear of the ship. It also has a loading ramp extending down between the Primary engine nacelles which means it has two or possible four smaller engines than the GR-75's three. Being a civilian transport it also doesn't have any weapons and probably minimal shielding. It could be the start of a nice conversion if you wanted to.

GR-75 Micromachine Playset = 1/330 scale (I original thought it was 1/300)

This is a playset and has obvious out of scale detail pieces like loading ramps which are not to scale and the under side detail is not great. You can easily pop off the plastic landing skids, throw it on a flight stand and have at it as it does have good detail on top and would look very good on the game table. With a little work, which I'm currently doing, it's detail level could easily be raised to pass muster with any nit-pickers, other than scale.

The GR-75 Micromachine Playset is closer to scale with the X-wing miniatures but I don't mind it being under scale. I think I would have more of a problem with the other one being a GR-75.

It’s a slow work in progress but I will keep you updated as it comes along.

Most of the main fuselage is done now I have to work on the engines.

Thanks guys! The large turrets are made from sheet styrene and styrene rod. The small ones are made from styrene tubing and a small wire (paperclip) inserted into the tube.

do you take commissions or anything like that? I'd love to create stats and bases for capital ships and play fleet battles with my friends. Great work by the way, looks great.

I’m finely done with all the details and now am on the cleanup stage before I prime the model for painting. Since this ship has so many tiny parts I tended to be a little heavy on the glue build up and have a lot of sanding to do. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove excess glue build up other than a needle file? I thought about using my motor tool at low speed so I don’t melt the plastic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just had to give a shout out for Super Clean Degreaser. I had to strip all the paint off my CR-90 due to a poor masking job. I used Super Clean Degreaser found in the auto department at Wal-Mart. This stuff took the paint right off without damaging the plastic or liquid cement glue joints.

After three painting attempts and complete strips this is what I came up with. I hope I did not go overboard with the weathering job. Now I need a base and some stats.
