Questions from a new group.

By Felenis, in Black Crusade Rules Questions

Hey, my group has just started really getting into Black Crusade, and through the process of character creation, and a few test duels, a few questions have come up.

1. Can I do a called shot action on a characters wings?

I figured it would count as the body for Toughness, but be unarmored. Theres a bit of a downside for having large fleshy bit flapping on your back.

Alternatively, there was the idea that wings can't be hit, but armour would be reduced on the body to represent some hits hitting the wings.

2. Does Haywire add its rating to the roll?

3. If my enemy Lightning Attacks, and gets 5 hits, and I parry all 5, can I counter attack 5 times? Or just the once?

4. Similarly, if I parry 5 attacks from lightning attack with a power weapon, is that 5 destroy tests?

5. Does Crippling stack on each hit? e.g Crippling (1) attack hits twice, does the enemy now suffer 2 wounds when he moves?

6. What constitutes a Suicidal Action for Telepathy powers? Something that a character does directly to themselves that would result in serious amounts of wounds?

Would throwing down your weapon and running away be considered suicidal? My opinion is no, but it is under debate in our group.

7. Can you turn around as a Free Action? Say you were charged from the rear? I'd rule an agility test at least

8. Does the Blademaster Talent effect Power Axes and Chain Axes? Its wording is sort of unclear.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if some of these questions are old news.

If it were me I would rule that yes you could called shot them, but in addition to crippling flight I would treat them as an additional limb. As toughness is not counted different from body part to body part it would have the same toughness as everywhere else. Unless they modify thier armor to somehow cover thier wings and not impede thier use, I would rule them as unarmored.

GM call. I have my players only get one counter attack per parry check.

GM call. I could see arguements either way for this one, but I would rule it to be one per check for simplicity's sake.

Facing is not really a part of this game. It is more a question of weather or not the person is aware of the other. If there is a chance the target is unaware of the rear charge, I would give them an awareness roll and then, if failed use the rules for suprise. If they are already engaged, but aware of the charging bad guy, use the rules for being outnumbered. If the target is trying to run away, but are aware of the person charging behind them, treat it as normal combat. If they are charged from behind with no other factors and happen to be aware that the person is charging them, treat it as normal combat.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you! It was a great help.

One question though

When I asked if you added a Haywires weapons rating to its roll, I meant its roll on the Haywire chart.

For example, haywire grenade (Haywire 3) hits, and I roll 7. Do I add 3 more for prolonged deadzone?

Sorry, the wording got me all mixed up.

As Cryhavok already said: You don't. The value in the brackets only affects the radius, not the strength of the field.

Ok thanks. Was just confused be cause he said
"No its rating effects it's radius and how long it lasts only"
Was probably just a mistake
