Political voting questions

By American63, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Sorry fellas, new to TI. Couple of questions regarding the political spect of the gme.

1. If I draw the political card do I read out the whole card or just 'Elect player' first, then when a player is elected we tell him his fate or otherwise.

2. If I want to elect a person do we actually name the player we are voting for then cast the influence votes.

1: When you are to read or reveal a political card, generaly, you read the card in full, and make a special note of what type of vote is occuring.

2: When casting your votes for electoral political cards, each player simply states whether they are voting for a specific person, or are obstaining from the vote. The total of their influence values from their face up planet cards is added towards whichever way they voted. Once everyone has cast their votes, the elected player or item with the most votes gains or loses whatever the political card states.

I hope this was helpful.

Many thanks thats fine!

It is also very important to have votes counted by each player in order, not all at once. The "elect a player" can be very interesting, when some players abstain or do a surprise vote for someone else.

A player needs to keep some trade goods available for bribing purposes when an "elect a player" comes up.

Surprisingly, many players are willing to be bribed for their vote or to abstain, for only 2 or 3 trade goods.

…and the Speaker gets to vote last. In the event of a tie, the Speaker decides.
