very happy with the detail however dissapointed with the X-Wing model and this may only pertain to the core kit I recieved. All pics I see online are wonderfully sculpted and detailed minis except I ended up with an X-wing with guns pointing all over the place. At least two werent aligned and some persuassion to straighten them failed to help. Made comment to customer support but not holding my breath. Anyone else had this problem? Fixed it?

If subsequent X-wings are deformed I may just remove the plastic guns and fit scratchbuilt metal ones.

I've got 4 x-wings…2 from core set and 2 individual….no major problems with lasers but the upper left engine – looking from the back is out of alignment on all four but not enough to warrant fixing them.

A few of my X-Wings has the same misaligned laser cannons, as well as the engine nozzles pointing off at weird angles. I have been luckier with my Y-Wings, but there are a few flaws. I have been luckier with my TIEs, although I have realigned the wings on one because it really was bugging me. My experience is that you can *gently* bend the plastic, which worked great on my TIE/LN, but I will not touch the Rebel ships as they look too fragile.

I wonder if we'll have the same problem with the TIE Interceptors..

If the models are deformed run them under warm waterbfor about 5 mins, this will allowbthe plastic to become pliable enough to bend back in place

My Y-Wing looks like one of the engines was glued on improperly. I contacted FFG customer service. I'm waiting for a reply. I'll let you know what they say.

Yep. Best advice, read the rulebook. Then read it again carefully. Nearly everything you need to know is in there. I played lots of games doing things wrong until I re-read the rulebook. Things make much more sense after that. Also if your opponent is doing something wrong (it happens a lot), you can point out why and know what youre talking about.

Next best advice, practice flying your ships around to get the maneuvering down. Many people on here will tell you the same thing.

So, my first reply here on FFG. Hello!

Well, when I bought my X-wing ships, I noticed straight away that my Y-wing had the backparts of its engines a bit out of alignement, but equally, so it doesn't look that bad (still going to fix it soon).
My X-wing ships had bigger issues. 2 of the engines on all of the X-wings were missaligned (broke them of and made a few adjustments and reglued them on). Then I had a second issue. When looking from the side, it seemed that the guns/wings were pointing downward! It didn't please me at all, so I had to litterally brake of the wings and then re-align them, pin them, and then glue them back on. This didn't take more than an hour to fix all of my 3 ships, but still. I've been looking at other pictures on the web about the X-wings and all I've seen that most of the other ships have been assembled better, so it might have been a bad batch I had at the local store, due to a clumbsy worker who glued the wings on badly (or is it automated?). But I know how to fix it now, so the minor issues won't disencourage me from buying more.

I've been playing GW games for a very long time now, and converting has been one of my stronger sides in that hobbyrange, so doing a bit of re-modelling here wasn't that much of troubble really, but I can understand that not everyone thinks it's easy. Specially if you haven't done it before, so I understand that some might be upsett that their models aren't looking good.

When cocidering the amount of detail and good paintjob they have and I've seen horrible pre-painted minies on other games, these are actually good quality. I could of maybe awoided the defects by comparing a few of the ships, but I was in a hurry and so had to just scoop the ones I wanted quickly. More time given, I might have spotted the errors and might have been able to change to other less defect ones, if there were any. But I'm not dissapointed at all to be honest, they're pre-assembled and pre-painted and I know that that's never going to be as good as when you make it your self.

With that said, all in all, I think these miniatures are on the top notch part.

I agree, as a whole the miniatures are great for a preassembled, painted peice. That being said any defects no matter how minor should be addressed by Customer Support ASAP (3 days and waiting). You are correct that not everyone is a conversion specialist and therefore expects what is advertised. Don't know how successful sales would have been if they used my Ties and X-Wings in their video tutorial.

I can only compare my experience with other customer support services like Battlefront who on reciept of an issue will respond with parts, decals even whole vehicles if required in good time. We're talking about a minature that you should not have to fix, convert or modify in order to fit its description, thats why it is preassembled.

I have also noticed several defects in models. Both of my X-Wings' laser cannons are just a little wonky and both have their top starboard engine misaligned in the exact same way, at just a slightly off angle. One of my TIE's wings is also just slightly off-angle. One of my Y-Wings' engines are slightly misaligned, not quite perpendicular to the joint. I don't mind these so much because I only notice those details when I pay incredibly close attention to the models, but they are slightly disappointing for the price. I realize that this game is cheap for a miniatures game, but it's still more than I'm used to spending.

That said, the first TIE Advanced that I purchased had a wing that was off kilter by about 20 degrees. I took pictures and contacted support, and within a few days a new model arrived at my doorstep free of charge. So my experience with FFG's customer service has been good, I just feel like it would be lame to contact them and ask them to send out five new ships to replace the ones that I have due to slight model problems, even if the laser cannons are a little more obviously messed up. Shame on me, too. If I was a more shrewd consumer that would make perfect sense, but **** FFG has a place in my heart. Still, they ought to know at some point just how many of their models are coming through the line messed up.

If you want a model replaced, take pictures and send em the way of CS. They replaced my Vader's mini rather quickly and were awesome.

Well, as I just posted last night on how great these models are despite the minor defects. I wasn't ready for this surprise. I received a late x-mas present from my mother-in-law, who had received specific instructions from my gf on what to buy for me. I was happy to receive another Y-wing! Fantastic gift!
But, then it struck me. As I looked at the model, I noticed straugh away that it had 1 of it's engine parts missing. Can't even start to imagine how this one has slipped through all the controls, and how it didn't get noticed in the store. My mother-in-law has minor knowledge about the Star Wars universe and she was really sorry about buying me a defect miniature.
Contacted CS with a picture of the mini with it's missing enginepart, so let's see how it turns out.

You should get a replacement. I got one just because I had a crooked peg base on mine, and this is a much bigger defect.

I've noticed this as well.

When the boxes first came out, all looked to be very nice.

However, many of the boxed sets being sold around Christmas had a lot of defects, e.g. misaligned Tie wings, and wonky X-Wing lasers.

I only found one box out of fourteen, at multiple stores that was acceptable to purchase in my book. I wanted to buy more of them at the 30% off discount, but just couldn't bring myself to do so, since the quality issues were really bugging me.

Glad I didn't buy them on-line.

From what I've seen, it appears the expansions have fewer quality issues than the boxed sets, but I haven't seen enough of them to really tell for sure.

I hope they will get the factory to tighten up on their quality control before Wave 2 is shipped and/or released.

It's a shame because they looked wonderfull advertised online much like a Big Mac is advertised, bit different when you get it. That being said, customer support is tops and my new X-Wing is on its way with little fuss.

I agree on how to fix the "wonky" guns on X-Wings. I have used the boiling water for a few seconds and then hold them straight in the freezer for another few seconds.

I have used this trick on everything from models to action figures for years.

Anytime you have such a small piece of plastic like that being mass produced your going to have this issue, but it is a easy quick fix.

What bugs me is that a number of the models I bought (mostly X-wings and TIEs from core sets, but also my Y-wing) are slightly cattywompus on their bases. So they look like they're trying to fly to the right, or are in the middle of a turn, or in the case of the Y-wing had a few drinks before stumbling into the cockpit. I haven't decided yet if it's worth contacting customer service over yet, but what's particularly frustrating is that I spent a bunch of time in the store carefully going over the ships to see which looked best, and there was no way to tell that this would even be an issue.

Ironically, the batch of ships that I ordered online sight-unseen recently (with mild trepidation, you may be sure) arrived without obvious defects aside from a small point on the back of one TIE Interceptor where it was obviously broken from the mold and then not painted over. Ah well. You win some, you lose some, and defects notwithstanding, the minis are still lovely overall.

My X-wings were pretty good over all, but one did have the lasers on one side tilted at a different angle than the other side. I just figured out that if you hold the wing in some small pliers, you can pop off the lasers with a fingernail or small screwdriver. I was able to do both with no damage at all. A bit of filing and I glued them back on nice and straight. Hope this helps.
