Looking forward to playing a Star Wars RPG from the start!

By GOGGS, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

Hi everyone nice to meet you all!

I jumped into WOTC's Saga Star Wars game and collecting the SW mini's a few years back just before they pulled the plug which was rotten luck!

I had just started my collection with the Core rulebook, Jedi Academy, Legacy Era, The Force Unleashed books and my first 100 minis, then readily equipped had taken part in less than a handful of campaigns and had a great time when WOTC pulled the plug and the local scene sadly dried up as people lost interest in playing it.

So the news of a new Star Wars RPG appearing on the horizon was like music to my ears! Upon further reading on the 'Edge Of The Empire' and reading the long arm of the hutt adventure I was hooked on the concept and pleased to see another great Star Wars RPG has been made and have got the beginner game waiting for me for christmas.

So I am looking forward to opening that and reading the rules further and testing the game out and most importantly getting the chance to jump in and play and be apart of a Star Wars RPG experience right from the beginning for once instead of listening to numerous great tales about WEG's Star Wars and Saga Star Wars from other local players I will finally be able to have my own to tell for a change!

I just have three questions if anyone happens to know the answers if possible?

1.Will the other two installments be released next year with the Core Rulebook or will they be annual releases if anyone knows?

2.Will the Dice app ever come to Android as I switched from iOS to Android earlier in the year?

3. Will Force Users be rare/limited in power because it is the Rebellion Era? Like pre NGE Star Wars Galaxies will it be really hard and risky for players to achieve Force Powers which was always cool imo like it is believable to see the odd light force users like Mara Jade and Aurra Sing or will full blown Jedi and Sith like Rahm Kota and Obi Wan and Darth Vader be running around in peoples groups? Or will it be a mix?

Anyway thank you for reading, hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year! I can't wait to start playing! Roll on Edge Of The Empire!

I can't answer question 1 and 3, but the app is available on iOS and Android.

1. They will be released q3-q4 2013 for 2nd enstalment from what i understand im leaning q4 in a in a yearish apart

2. Droid app? yep im using it on my droid tonight.

3. From my perspective somone with the force at any level in this game is perty op in the fact they move stuff/people with their mind its not underpowered how people seem to make it but it requieres being creative with what you are givin. The force is to be in addition to your chracters career choice.

Welcome! I completely relate, I must say.

The first tabletop RPG I ever bought was Star Wars SAGA Edition. It was a gateway into the genre, but SAGA Edition was on it's way out, and I too only played a handful of sessions before it was a hard game to find.

So hearing about this game was music to my ears, too. And it's great to have--I'll have my first session early next month.

As for Force Users, in Edge of the Empire there's no dedicated career for using the Force, but it seems to me, based on the Beta, that the "drawback" or balance, so to speak, of being Force Sensitive will simply be that you are dividing up your experience points into multiple talent trees.

If I remember correctly, raising your Force Sensitivity from 0 to 1 and unlocking the force talent tree costs 20 experience points. Then you have to buy the Talents.

Typically, at the end of a session it is recommended that each player receive 10 XP, and maybe a bonus. So 20 XP is no joke when you consider all the other stuff you can be upgrading.

So a Scholar A who has force powers will be far more versatile than Scholar B who sticks to the Scholar Talent tree exclusively, but Scholar B will be more developed as a Scholar than Scholar A.

At least that's my understanding.

When the third book comes out, I'm guessing there will be Force careers. We'll see how they handle that.

Thank you Aljovin, Tassedar and DylanRPG!

Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well with Saga Dylan! At least we can both looking forward to playing Edge Of The Empire now though!

Good to know the app is on android as well thanks guys I will pick it up after I open the box on Christmas so I am ready to roll!

In regard to the Force powers it sounds sensible from what you say, it will be interesting to see how it all fits together and I hope you all have good adventures!

Yeah my smuggler/force sensitive is super quick and with force sense he's hard to hit. And playing sabbacc against a force sensitive character is like just showing your hand.
