Will there be other factions. Eg. Naboo, droid, wookie etc?
Factions q?
The only Faction I can think off are either The Mandolorianer or the Blacksun Pirates. They could either be there own Faction and/or allies to both sides.
Why not Naboo,… you ask. Naboo is the birthplanet of the Empror. So this planet will be the second if not the first who will hoin the Galactic Empire. Droid are not a real own faction the are servant for every one. The empire use Driod controlled TIE/D automated starfighter ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/D_automated_starfighter ). i dont think that the Wookies build there own Starfighters, they might be good engineers but they dont have there own Shipindustrie atleast i never heard of it. So they would not build them in significantnumbers.
I was thinking races
Wookies
, Naboo etc, I should be thinking bodys, so Naboo could be part of the republic. and then the huts could be merc for any.
but i guess x-wing was taken from a part of the star wars era. and the struggle for the republic was gone and left only them as rebels. My star war is a bit rusty. (might have to watch again.
The Galactic Republic is the Galactic Empire. The only difference is non Humans are not allowed. The Rebells are mostly either pissed off aliens or traitor Imperial Soldiers. Biggs Darklighter was a high rank Imperial Officers. Antilles was an Imperial fighter Ace. I think you think that every planet stands for himself, but they are more like states in a country. The population of the "important" Planets are mixed species. Kashyyk and so are more an exception than the rule .
Problem with races isn't so much the aliens but the tech they employ. Hutt cartels employ a wide variety of mercs, pirates and bounty hunters to do their dirty work so you could pretty much add any fighter to their forces if they were a unique faction unto themselves. Then again the cartel's generally work for both sides if the price or benefit is right for them so just build a scenario around that idea.
Mandalor industries would be interesting but are there enough fighters out there from Mandal star engineering? I remember empire at war having a bunch of larger vessels from the Mandalorian side but not fighters, unless you count the mass produced version of the Virago I guess. Still I would love to see a star viper attack platform in X-Wing.
Blacksun would be like the Hutt's really just with better quality ships and more organisation from a fluff standpoint. Still it would be a good way to add several ships not seen in the films to the game.
Trade federation droid fighters would be kinda not good in my opinion, unless they made a seperate expansion box for the clone wars era, although the star battles in the prequel trilogy suck compared to the rebel/imperial confrontations. The clone wars series adds a few but it's mostly ground battles and most space conflicts are cruiser based. We could see a Z-95 for X-Wing though since the clone wars cartoon made them canon for the film timelines so heres hoping
I think a mercenary/bounty hunter/smuggler faction would be really cool and add another layer of depth to the game.

Biggs Darklighter was fresh out of the Imperial Academy when he left to join the Rebels…a junior grade officer at best. And Wedge Antilles was never in Imperial service.

I'd imagine that there would be a mercenary/pirate/warlord faction that could mix and match ships, but probably wouldn't have any of their own, unless they want to dip into the EU.
Haven't they already dipped into the EU with some of the pilots they've used? Hortan, Mauler, and so on? Even if they appeared they were never named.
Right, the EU is game. Soontir Fel, Turr Phenir, Tycho Celchu, Maarek Stelle are all great examples of pilots who are never name in Episodes IV-VI. To stay on topic, I could see a "Neutral" faction that encompases pirstes, smugglers and the like.
as for factions, The more talk I hear on what people would like. I now am ok with the Idea of the clone wars era of fighter ships. I would like to see confederate droid ships on the table "due to the quality and detail of the minatures so far in this game im positive these ships would look awsome on the table" so I say bring them on. the ships in each wave can go either way. I think it will be fine. I dont belive that any ships suck in this game. everything has its role somewhere. Im really loving this game

Biggs was the 1. Mate on the Rand Ecliptic. He might left early but he was an executive office.
The biggest flaw of a new faction is less ship realeases. They might release 4 ships with every wave, but they will distributed between all the factions. A new era would even mean that you cant use them with the rest. The game is to new for more factions, the 2. wave hasn't yet to hit the store.
