Post your Kessel Run results here (especially if you won)

By El_Tonio, in X-Wing

Went to two Kessel Run events in Winnipeg.

I took 8 TIE Fighters in the first one at GameKnight. I had 4 Academy Pilots and 4 Obsidian Pilots for 100 points. There were four Rebel players and two Imperial players, including me. I lost my first battle against 3 X-Wings and a Y-Wing, won my second battle against Vader, Howlrunner, Mauler, and 3 TIEs, and walked away with a TIE Interceptor.

In the second Kessel Run even the next day at Mighty Comics, I took 8 Academy pilots for 96 points because I had issues maneuvering TIE Fighters with different Pilot Skills bumping into each other. Now I could always choose which TIE Fighter to move. I won three straight games and walked away with a Firespray-31. Much happiness.

Here's a video of the two events. Sorry, the sound may not be working due to copyright issues because I put Star Wars music in it. You need to click on the audio tab about the video screen to listen. Anyway, here it is:

Won a local event here in Stockholm with the following squadron:

Garven Dreis with R2 astromech

"Dutch" Vander with ion cannon and R5-K6

2xRookie Pilots

Put together a proper after action report on my blog, here . But the build worked well, although I think I might try and switch Garven for Wedge in the future and see how it turns out.

We are having event - dependant on numbers in Saskatoon 29th Dec. if you and others are interested in coming over.

Alright, a little late (and long), but here it goes:

Went to two events here in the upstate of South Carolina. (Dec. 15, 16)

I should mention that I had only ever played in three games, and only in one of them did I control more than one ship.(2 TIE's)

The first event (8 players, 75 minute games), I took an Imperial build:

Darth Vader, Con. missle, Marksmanship

Mauler Mithel, Swarm tactics

Nightbeast

2x Black Squadron pilots

First game: Vs. Bob he also played imperial (TIE swarm). Board was a mess with ships bumping each other, I kept running one TIE around the SAME asteroid hitting it twice. The match went to time, but out of the jumble I was able to destroy more points (85-39) for a major win.

Second Game: Vs. John (who ran me through my first demo) He also was playing Imperial, but with 2 TIE advance and 3 TIE's (I tink). he got the upper hand a few round into the match by killing off both black sqd.pilots, but on the last round I was to destroy his Maarek (28-34) for a minor win.

This put me at the final table with Josh, who chose the Rebel faction, and he pretty much "tore me a new one" it was over and done with in about 25 minutes. I had no luck with the dice, and no tactics or manouvers. I didnt kill even one of his ships. Though I did come away with the Slave 1, and had loads of fun getting to play with everyone there.

The next day (10 players, 60 minute games) I decided to relax, and have more fun with it, and fly with the rebellion. I took:

Luke Skywalker, R2-F2, and Squad leader

Biggs Darklighter, R2-D2, Proton torpedoes

"Dutch" Vander, R5-K6, Ion, Proton torpedoes

First game was vs. Jimmy, (a friend of mine) he played Imperial, and we had a good time shooting each other up. He damaged Biggs, and Dutch, but couldn't finish them off. and I only managed to destroy 1 TIE, so I got another minor win.

Second game was vs. Chris, and he played a very similar rebellion build, but with Horton instead of Dutch as the main differance. We both flew around doing loads of damage, but it wasn't till the last round that he destroyed my Biggs, and I destroyed Horton for another minor win.

Third game was vs. Ryan ( Vader, and a 4TIE swarm) and was the first game where I kinda had an idea of what I wanted to do, as opposed to just flying around. I flew Luke up one side of the board, ant then turned him into the middle of the 4TIE swarm, to break it up. Dutch, with Biggs giving cover, flew into the fray with Torpedoes and Ion shots destroying 2 TIES in as many turns. He was able to destroy Biggs a few rounds later, but I got Vader on the last turn to put me over the top with a major win.

This got me to the Champions table again, this time vs. Doc. He chose the Rebels, and I found myself flying Slave1 again. This time was diifernt though. I drew first blood, killing off an A-wing. He then destroyed an interceptor, and I killed the other A-wing. I was in pursuit of the Falcon when he killed the final intercepor, and was circiling around the asteroids and pulling away from me. I decided to cut the corner and blew though the asteroids taking 1 hit out of three, but was able to avoid any hits from the Falcon. Then as he cut in front of me I got off a good shot taking him down to one hull. on the following turn I turned away from him, took a hit or two, and was able to shoot him out the rear arc. Winning myself the Falcon.

I had loads of fun with this group of guys also, and hope to get some sort of league together for the upcoming year. In the meantime I have been showing-off the ships to anyone interested, and have ran a few people through some demo games with the new ships.

Was actually able to play in two Kessel Run Tournaments with my gaming group (we have been dubbed "The Winged Gundark" group "Cacaw!").

The place I played had a group that kept cawcaw-ing.

Late post as well. I took Darth Vander with swarm tactics, maul Mithral and backstabber plus 3 academy pilots. I played two games both against imperials who both had 5 ships. First game we passed each other but I caught him out by flipping over. He lost two ships (ties) and then turned his advanced tie the wrong way off the board. I had lost 1 academy pilot. He then conceded.

Second game my opponent had Vader, backstabber and 3 others, some were named but I can't remember who. I got some lucky shooting in soon and put two of his ties on two damage each. Game ended with all his destroyed and I lost an academy pilot (again).

next game was the final, where I lost to the rebels. They got some good die rolls (eight year old die rollers are deadly (his son)) but also got the drop on me. I managed to destroy both a-wings but he destroyed all mine.

left with slave 1, so I was pleased with that (better than I had intended).
