Two separate powerful groups to hopefully spread out opponents

Naturally Wedge swarms rookie1 and Garvin gives focus to Rookie 2 giving two potent groups. Also a chance for initiative in which case swarm will provide an even greater advantage.

Luke with R2D2

Garvin

Rookiesx2

A much more defensive build to hopefully last long enough to do its damage and wear down opponents.

Just curious which you would pick and why?

Personally I like the Luke build. Luke with R2-D2 is solid and should last a good long time. I just love Luke for his defensive capabilites.

Of the two I'd go with choice one but I wouldn't play it the way you described. I'd use Swarm on Garvin whenever possible to give Wedge a Focus combined with a Target Lock to get some one shot kills.
