Rate my Kessel Run Build

I'm torn between these two builds

Wedge w/ R2F2 w/ determination

rookie pilot w/ generic droiud

rookie pilot with generic droid

gold sqaudron pilot w/ ion cannon

or

basically the same build except with Luke instead

Is it it better to go with the agressiveness of edge but risk him getting targeted early, or go with the defenseiveness of Luke but risk not having the fire power to win the game within the tournament time limit? Thoughts? Suggestions? Alternate builds?

Wedge is fine with R2-F2. However, I would drop Determination. You are more likely to receive a critical hit on the Ship instead of the Pilot .
The Rookies are okay. For the "Generic droid", choose a R5 Astromech. They can help with ship-based crits. I would also add a R5 Astromech to the Gold Squadron Pilot, since I suggested to drop Determination from Wedge.

Good luck.

I'll drop both the R2F2 and Determination, and play R2D2 on Wedge instead. Your generic droid would best be R2 Astromech.

I'm running a similar build

Luke + R2-D2

2x Rookie pilots

Grey Squad with Ion Cannon and R2 droid

For me the decided factor for going with Luke over Wedge was protecting the (almost) 1/3rd of your points that they represent. On defense, wedge is just as easy to kill as the rookie pilots, but is worth an extra 11 or so points. Thats basically a whole tie fighter. So i went with luke and D2 to hopefully give the points some extra protection.

Also, keep in mind that either luke or wedge are gonna have a big target on them. You could have up to 8 Ties making a bee line for him. Use this to your advantage, plan on luke being the main target, basically use him as bait, and use the other ships to flank the enemy and box them in. But be careful, if they do manage to blow him up, you will need 2 or likely 3 kills to take the lead back.

That's a good point BigNateNZ. I feel like most rounds aren't going to finish in total destruction of one side or the other, therfore having Luke is the safer bet. Plus, I feel like less experienced players will focus on Luke (even though he's no more offenseively dangerous than any of the other ships) and waste several volleys of fire with Luke coming out unsacthed. Thanks for the ideas guys.

im looking at this build:

Wedge + R2-D2 + swarm (35pts)

2x Rookie pilots (21pts each = 42pts)

Gold Squad with Ion Cannon (23pts)

im actually tempted to just run Red Sqd Pilot over the Y-Wing but i think the Y-Wing will b needed vs sqds that have 1-2 name pilots although against an 8 tie team, depends on the meta game i guess.
