What is A Crying Clota?

By sebek3, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

I just wondered what a Crying Clota was apart from the ale house in Stern Hope?

I don't know if it has any special significance in 40K, but Clota was the celtic goddess of the river Clyde. It's also the Community Light Opera and Theater Association.

LOL...Mmmm. Not exactly the answer I was looking for... Thanks though... happy.gif

As a newbie to the world of 40k I was wondering if it was supposed to mean anything? like if it was a type of Local Grox????

It seems its just a name. Maybe the history goes thus:

Girl/Boy named Clota came in to drink a "homebrewed" beer and started crying really loud.

Voila: a "Crying Clota" for me too!

I do not know of any creature with this name, neither. I suppose/imagine it to be some sort of herd animal, perhaps similiar to a goat.

Thanks folks. happy.gif

I had when asked by a player what one was had to think up something on the spot and went with "the it's a type of vicious Grox" so named because of the distinct noise it makes. A little later in the same game they then met one such Crying Clota and it ate one of the Acolytes before meeting a grizzly end itself.....So as I'm not making a terrible faux par with such artistic liberties I can again sleep well at night gui%C3%B1o.gif

LOL.. When my players asked me, I explained to them that it was a scruffy looking goat-like creature which made a sorrowful moaning noise at sundown. Tadaaa... a Crying Clota gran_risa.gif

If my husband killed my DH character in death by livestock, he would find himself having to do a lot more for himself than cook. demonio.gif

Heh.. We aim to please! (Alas my workplace restricts webpage access to places with the word "game" in them, so I am not subject to that particular peril of the web.)

Serialkilla's Character surfs teh intarweb, but alas, the veil is thin and weakened *Rolls a 9*

*rolls on Intarweb Phenomena*

The insanity which flows through twisted cables and wires most foul unleash a mass ROFL, blasting a 3d10 meter area with sheepishly silly laughter and hearty tears (Any daemonic creature (or boss) caught in the blast must pass a very hard (-30) WP test or get severely annoyed, due to lack of seriousness)

So this is the thread where the insane gathers?

Hello! Im Varnias Tybalt and I am.... Eccentric... :P

P.S "Death by livestock"... XD D.S

O believe me I'm not alowed to forget about her characters death EVER!!!! I am considering getting the whole incident mindwiped. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Mind wiping is a perfectly acceptable solution. Wether for relieving a dear acolyte of the burden of knowledge, or simply when putting someone up for a prank. > :D

Now that I think of it, its probably a good thing that practically every Inquisitor is a humourless grumpy person. Their idea of a prank would probably be a little overkill...

Knock, knock !

Who's there?

...*the inquirer suddenly finds that the world he was currently on was the target of an exterminatus. The notorious prankster Inquisitor has struck yet again!*

That most dreaded agency within the Inquisition, the Ordo Avon. None can escape. None.

Would you guys actually like to know what a clota is, or are you having more fun speculating? gui%C3%B1o.gif

would it be a kind of Geometridae moth maybe?

A clota is a type of livestock or hunting target, I think, since part of the narrative does mention the acolytes breakfasting on clota meat. The name, I assume, is the innkeeper's attempt at making a good name for his establishment like all inkeepers are wont to do (like the Broken Drum, for example...+10 Nerdiness if you know what this is a reference to).

Ooooo

Can't remember seeing that. What page is the description on?

Well, since "Black Sheep" came out (the movie, not the game - and I think this is the only forum where I'd have to clarify that), death by livestock is a little less humiliating.

The clientele was more interesting at the Broken Drum, but at the Mended Drum you might actually have a chance to finish your drink before you get stabbed. Also the addition of proper scoring of the bar brawls is so very useful in determining who won at the end. Nice to know for certain that there's extra points if you use your own arm as a club after it gets severed.
