How do you play Son Of Arnor

So, I don't understand how this Response works.

Response: After Son of Arnor enters play, choose an enemy card in the staging area or currently engaged with another player. Engage that enemy.

So, you can only play this during the planning phase, at which point you can take a currently engaged enemy and change their engagement to the Son of Arnor. But the enemy will attack first and the Son of Arnor only has 2 health and no Defense, meaning unless the enemy is one of the weakest in the game, you are going to lose this card before you get the opportunity to use his 2 attack. Is there any point to this card’s special ability? Am I missing something? Is he really just ablaitive armor?

I’m still pretty new at this, so I’m sure some strategies elude me yet.

the enemy that engages doesnt attack straight away, but does so in the attack phase

his ability is useful for engaging enemies that sometimes do not allow you to choose to do so in the engagement phase, it is also useful for taking enemies out of staging so they dont contribute threat

Or, in multi-player, save a friend from a foe he can't defend or kill

It can also be used to enage enemies that cannot be optionaly engaged. You can also use cards like Sneak Attack or Stand and Fight to put them into play outside of the Planning Phase since it says "Response: After Son of Arnor enters play,…" and NOT "Response: After you play Son of Amor…"
