Anathema --> what information about DUSK ?

By Gregorius21778, in Dark Heresy

Greetings, brethern

Since I am still unable to lay a hand on "Anathema" here in germany, I simply have to ask only:

is there any additional information inside the book about "living on dusk"? Besides what horrors are dwelling there?

I am asking since a couple of friends of mine asked me to GM again for them. They are -not- W40HK-fanatics but rather used to D&D and stuff. So, I am toying with the idea on starting some games on the rather primitive world of DUSK. Making them hunt for vile creatures and cults in the villages, hamlets and towns they are used to while introducing to them the anachronistic wonders of imperial technology slowly.

If the book would contain good source material for dusk (living, culture and so on) I would try to wait a little longer. If it is "just those phenomous scary and twisted monsters" I could start with what I have.

So, you owner of the book I envy you for... any info? Please?

It's a great book but no Dusk-specific information that I can find.

The book mentions Dusk and then says "we don't have enough space here to do it justice." I'm personally hoping for periodic pdf releases, each detailng one of the famous worlds in Calixis. Or, failing that, a book containing two-dozen of those famous worlds.

What would be nice is pdfs on the website which make the material that ended up on the cutting room floor of each book available.

I have also been intrigued by the planet Dusk for some time. (It's no coincidence the heretic from Eternal Tide is from Dusk. I had originally conceived the adventure as nothing but a stepping stone to a Dusk adventure, and in fact I'm currently in the middle of writing that follow on to run with my own group.)

I assume you have the Inquisitor's Handbook? That is what I am using as my starting reference material. While I would always like to see more on the planet, between the Core Rulebook bestiary entries and the IH background package, it's pretty fleshed out compared to some other planets.

Well, first of all thank you guys for the info. So, I do not need to wait since I do not have to be afraid that my work has to be re-down with the next two weeks

@Atheal
I do own the IH. The picture given in their was the thing that made my mind spin. Oil lamps, black powder weapons, lots of fog, horrible things out of sight, swamps and fens and forrests. You know...this whole "gas light horror" thing.

Well...so I will turn round and start working.

Read ya!

Ha ha! I know that feeling well!

If you would be so kind, please publish that follow-up adventure somewhere on the web. I ran Eternal Tide earlier with my group and I really liked the plot and setting on Spectoris(although i feel i should have beefed up the resistance a little more than I did, because the PCs were a little over-powered).

Nevertheless, the heretic got what he deserved (and for some reason the Black Priest of Maccabeus in our gang felt it was necessary to burn every last Steel Savage. But then again he is a bit of a puritanical psychopath so what can you do? XD)

Dusk is certainly an intruiging world, and I have recently rolled up a Dusk born Guardsman (who also accidently became a Wyrdling because of that pesky divination table). A quite interesting fellow if i might say so.

So if you really do a follow-up on Eternal Tide and situate that adventure on Dusk, it would be a convenient place to introduce my new PC for the group.

Glad you enjoyed. I am planning to upload the adventure to my website when it's done, but unless you're looking to wait a month or two to introduce that new PC, you probably don't want to wait for it.

I am just in the process of writing the adventure to run with my group now. It will probably be 3-4 more weeks before they finish Eternal Tide and then finish playing through the Dusk adventure. Then, typically the process of cleaning up my outline and notes into something -others- can use takes a couple more weeks. Add into this that I am going to Japan for two weeks at the end of the month, and it will be a little while before said adventure is online. (And that was probably more than you wanted to know! gui%C3%B1o.gif )

But, I will try to make sure I include an option to rehook the adventure from points other than Spectoris (as opposed to how I will be running it) so that interested folks can use it even if they have continued on.

Hmm, we shall see if I can wait. I think I can, because we have rolled up a nice bunch of new characters (we have decided to promote our current characters to Inquisitors, and so the game play will resume with our previous characters' new acolytes). Which means that every player will have to juggle with three new PCs (and also their old Inquisitor who probably will show up from time to time). And that in turn means that our group needs a frakload of adventures (several for each cell of new acolytes), and although we try to come up with ur own adventures, we shamelessly use others works in order to have something to play every sunday. XD

Now that we both have exchanged several row of more information that we wanted to know, I wish you a pleasant trip to Japan (a place i want to visit myself someday), and that I'll be waiting for your finished results (but dont shy away from loading up some rough notes either. My own are insane enough as it is so if you hold a less degree of insanity points yourself, it shouldnt be a problem for me to decipher)

I prefer not to upload my rough notes to my website. But if you would like to send me an email (my email is on my website) I would be happy to send you the outline when it is completed, which should be a week from today (because that's when I am expecting to have to start running it).
