Need a little help with deckbuilding.

By LordRedhand, in UFS Deck Building

I've been collecting UFS since it came out however the art of deck building is a little harder in this game then about anyother CCG I've played (which is a good thing.) However may play style is a little more freindly then competitive so with that in mind I'm trying to build a deck around some of my favorite characters that "feels" like I'm actually playing them over trying to win (though that too would be nice.)

Right now I'm building decks for the following Characters:

Dan (Street Fighter): Currently built around All and Void. Would almost prefer an All and Death build.

Cervantes (Soulcalibur 3/4): Currently built around the resources of Chaos and Evil

B.B. Hood (Darkstalkers) Currently All and Good, with a smattering of Evil and Good.

I know my current decks for them are probably out-of-date for a legal tournament deck, but I would like to have decks built for them that are fun and competitive (tournament legal definition) I also prefer playing decks built around 2 resources over one, however having both of the resources match the character card in question ( i.e. Cervantes playing off of Chaos and Evi slanted more towards evil but most of the cards 95% having both symbols.)

So any suggestions?

Straight up?

I'd start by going to the Two Headed Dragon UFS search.

http://twoheadeddragon.com/ufs/index.html

I would use the advanced search, and select the two resources you are wanting to build your deck off of.

If you're leaning more toward friendly, I'm not sure how deep your collection is, so I could list off a dozen different cards that you don't have.

Once you've come up with some deck lists of what you've got... you can start to tweak the decks from there.

Well I'd consider my collection deep but probably not as current as I would like it, I think the last set that I have very few cards from was the second Darkstalkers set. So if there is a card I may likely have at least 1 if it's an older set (bought cards from those sets by the case) however right now I'm not overly concerned with having the cards in question, just opinions of what could work.

I'll post my B.B. Hood deck list as an example note that some attacks and foundations are fillers for blocks/control check purposes

Characters 4 total

B.B Hood 2 dot version x 1

B.B Hood 1 dot version x 1

Yoshitora 3 dot version x 2

Attacks 25 total

Cheer and Fire x 1

Mercenary x3

Refusal of Power x4

Cute and Innocent x4

Deck is currently at 60 cards total, but needs work in that the goal is to try to use B.B. Hood's Recursion and defense abilities when it comes to attacks. I could probably drop the actions entirely or drop some of the lone foundations that my strategy is not dependant on.

There are a few different ways I can see you going with this:

1) If you're building for the future, you're going to want to work on it as block 3, which would mean strictly using :BBHood:

2) If you're building for the era between now & the start of block 3, by all means party using .BBhood. As well.

I'm a fan of the whole idea of merging the characters, so I'll gear my advice towards #2.

Figure out which character that you're going to start with. Keep that at 1 copy.

I would then increase the number of copies of the other version to 4. It means you're going to see them more often, and will make it more viable for you to merge the two together.

Personally, I'm a fan of both of the actions, especially the defensive properties inherent in Dark Heart. Brining the Master to his Knees is just all kinds of a good time, not to mention a 6 check with a good block. That definately stays.

You're talking about splashing Evil, in that case, you'll probably want to start with .BB. and upgrade to :BB:

In this situation I would consider stashing 4 copies of rejection in your sideboard, to swap in "in case of emergency" Additionally boarding 4 copies of Gorgeous Team may not be a bad idea.

Since you are running :BB: I would actually look at trimming the attacks.

I would drop Climb Razor, Consider moving Overhead Crash to the sideboard as an option if you're dealing with Hax.
Drop the Chijo Beast Rush as well as the moment slice.
Cut the Cheer and Fire, there are better ranged attacks. Yeah, it's got a cute BB ability, but I find with only one copy it's really limited, and required your opponent to be playing a reversal deck to be effective. Just far too situational at that point.

Cool Hunting ='s Money. Between Mercenary, and the prevelence of Kitty Spike, I think you want to have 4 copies of this card in your deck.Plus it covers your base for Both Ranged and Multiple.

Born to hunt is a x4 type of card in one of my BB builds.

Mercenary goes up to 4 copies.

In regards to cutting the attacks:

If you've got 4x Throw, 4x Reversal, look at squeezing in Kick, Punch, Weapon? See what cards can duplicate those keywords for you?

BTW - Please don't hit me for this... but Kitty Spike does cover Multiple + Reversal + Stun

Ryu's Shin Shoryuken is also worth looking at for attacks.

Anyhow, it's almost 3am local, and I've got to wrap up.

Thanks will consider them

And agreed Definetly need more Cool Hunting copies

Looking at my B.B. Hood build above my deck is weighted more on reversals and throws, some weapon and one punch attack (Chijo Beast Rush) And I'll be the first to admit some of the attacks and lone foundations were put into the deck to "make it 60 cards" over well-tuned machine, thus the occasional 1 copies of stuff.

that should be the first thing you change about the deck find out what you like to see and what you dont then try and get 4 or sometimes you only need 3 or something...say if it doesnt work well in multiple copies or is unique
