TIE Fighter list for tournaments

By Nazull, in X-Wing

I'd quite like to try something similar with Omega Squadron Pilots and Primed Thrusters - you lose the awesome Operations Specialist, but being able to segnor/barrel roll gives you a lot of space to set up blocks and snap shot traps.

Here is the actual list I'm trying next tourniment:

100 points: 4 Academy Pilots, 4 Obsidian Pilots

I was tempted to put Howlrunner in there but it would cost me a TIE Fighter and Wedge so easily snipes off unique TIEs because he's initiative 9 and reduces their Agility by 1 and can carry Proton Torpedoes - twice I've lost a perfectly healthy TIE to a single salvo!

Who is this mythical Wedge character you speak of?

If you wanna up your swarm to 6 ships you can also run:

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (20) - TIE Bomber
TIE Shuttle (0), Operations Specialist (3), Intelligence Agent (1)

Black Squadron Pilot (16) - TIE Fighter
Snap Shot (2)

Black Squadron Pilot (16) - TIE Fighter
Snap Shot (2)

Black Squadron Pilot (16) - TIE Fighter
Snap Shot (2)

Black Squadron Pilot (16) - TIE Fighter
Snap Shot (2)

Black Squadron Pilot (16) - TIE Fighter
Snap Shot (2)

Lots of snapping and lots of focus tokens...

I've tried this with SnapTacticianOps/Rhymer and 4 BlackSnaps. It can beat trip defenders.

double post...

I have also had reasonable success with Omega Leader/Juke and 4 OmegaSnaps. Went 3 -1 in a tournament. I think I only lost to BroBots (granted this was like 6 months ago).

I like to call that list "The Swarm Abides"

He's from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far way from where you are now.

He was history even before you belonged.

I'm partial to the 4x Black Squadron w/ crack shot, wampa, juke/comms omega leader squad as far as TIEs go. In casual games I run Omega Leader with the alternate paint TIE fighter model from the Gozanti to fit in better with the TIEs but still stand out enough for the opponent's convenience.

Ahh. Those beautiful days when Wedge was a monster.

In regards to Mauler Mithel and Snap shot - I would think that his ability wouldn't add any bonus as you cannot modify your attack?

Adding a die to a roll is not modifying.

So the same applies to Scourge, then. And Pure Sabaac.

Interesting.

Aha - I was confusing that with adding a die result. Mauler Mithel with Snap shot looks interesting!

If I can get my hands on a Gozanti I will try it out!

My favorite TIE swarm is this combination:

Howlrunner w/ Determination

3x Black Squadron Pilot w/ Crack Shot

3x Academy Pilot

I've really wanted to try out a TIE ace Swarm with as many bonus dice as I can fit in for some time:

NIEN! NIEN! NIEN! NIEN! NIEN!

Howlrunner - Adaptability
Duchess - Adaptability, Adaptive Ailerons, Lightweight Frame
Zeta Leader - Veteran Instincts
Scourge - Veteran Instincts
Mauler Mithel - Veteran Instincts

Yeah, I have a squad idea that I have yet to put on the table involving the aforementioned Snap Shot.

Scourge (Snap Shot)
Mauler Mithel (Snap Shot)
Zeta Leader (Snap Shot)
Backstabber (Targeting Computer)
Epsilon Leader (Targeting Synchronizer)
100 TOTAL

I could easily drop TC from Backstabber. Anyway, the idea is for lots of Snap Shot extra dice. Zeta Leader has to take a stress to do so, so Epsilon Leader let's Zeta Leader remove that stress at the start of combat. Epsilon Leader also can target lock a ship that any of the others can then spend if they roll poorly (which always seems to happen with Mauler Mithel). Definitely not a competitive squad. I need to try this one out.
