Stupid SQL syntax errors while trying to update my profile?!

By RJM, in 8. AGoT Off Topic

So, I've been trying to edit my signature. Nothing fancy, just a quote in plain text:

Sansa back away from him. "You're awful."

"I'm honest. It's the world that's awful..." -The Hound

But every time I try and update, I get this freakin' error message, or one like it depending on how I tried to tweak the text:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.67-community-nt]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's awful. The Hound<br /> </i></p>' where id_user=14969' at line 1

/edge_asp/edge_funciones.asp, line 85

Someone more computer savvy than myself, can you perhaps tell me what the heck I'm doing wrong or need to change to fix the problem? I'm at my wit's end here over a stupid little signature block. Thanks!

Sansa back away from him. "You are awful."
"I am honest. It is the world that is awful..." -The Hound

The ยด is the problem. Try the above version and it should work.

Thanks! Thats really weird, as I could swear in one of my versions I tried it sans '

Its seems to have worked though, and I'll just have to go ahead and leave it with some incorrect punctuation in order to preserve the "actual" quote as written. ;-)

Also remember that there are two apostrophe-like characters on the keyboard: ` and '. If one doesn't work then try the other.

Good call, Perthius... Again, hadn't even thought of that. And what do you know, it worked! Regards.
