Movement and large monsters

By Zonkie, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I have 2 questions my group of friends discuss each time we play.

First queston is: When there is a corner, you can move diagonally? To half of us this seems common sense but our other half thinks the corner is blocking this sort of move and you must go up then left.

Second question: Can an overlord park a large monster over treasures and glyphes? A dragon can squat on alot of items in Quest 8 A Spiral of Death

1st question - Yes, you can move to any of the 8 vacant spaces surrounding your current space, even if it is diagonal, and the two kiddie-corner spaces are occupied, making it seemingly an impossible move physically.

2nd questtion - Sure, you can (and should) park over treasure and un-activated glyphs.

Just to further clarify, monsters can end their movement on unactivated glyphs only. They can move over (and attack from) activated glyphs, but only if they move off before their turn ends. If the glyph is activated while a monster is standing on it (e.g. by Runewitch Astara, or with Acrobat) the monster must move off at the first opportunity.

Cool thanks, I guess our GM has one more question.

What about if therre is a pit onvolved like so:

Can you still move diagonal?

yes. Moreover, large monsters (base size > 1x1) are unaffected by pits unless the entire base fits in the pit.

Well, I meant can a hero move diagonally around a corner past a pit as in the recent pic i showed.

Thanks all so far for the answers.

Yes you can move diagnol. In the broadest and simpliest terms if you draw a one-molecule thick line between two squares and there's no obstacles there that prevent movement, you can move there. That's how teleportation work happy.gif

Thanks for the replys. This will help us play more and rules debate less.
