I remember reading somewhere that Advanced Archetypes from the Tome of Fate do not get the 500/1000 extra XP at character creation, but I seem to not be able to find it again. Was there something like that writen or am I not remembering correctly?
Extra XP for advanced archtypes
It's a sidebar on page 26, "A Note to GMs". It isn't outright enforced, more of a recommendation.
Thanks, that will be what I will roll with. No extra XP for them.
I am going to throw in a related question here rather than start a new thread.
In the core book it discusses giving extra XP for epic play. It says that more than 3000 might be top much. But in the tomes they are dishing out 4600 of extra powers. Doesn't that make these advanced archtypes greatly overpowered?

As the books also say, though, those advanced archtypes aren't meant to be equal to normally generated characters, and if you plan to use them from the start, those players not using the advanced archtypes should be allowed an equivilent amount of XP to start with.
It's why the advanced archtypes are not meant for games where you're starting off on the bottom rung - they're for jumping straight into this middle of the board.

The advanced archetypes are also pre-constructed, meaning you are most likely getting advances you'd probably not have bought otherwise. The lack of choice is a rather big thing considering. For example, the advanced heretek get blasphemous incantations, a talent that costs 750 and something many would probably never use due to the automatic perils when rolling 91+.
I have had to balance out a normal group of Heretics with more xp due to some players taking some of the new archetypes in Tome of Blood. I feel it was necessary to balance out at least the characters among themselves first in some ways. Although each archetype has their own special talents, traits and skills, I once wanted to balance out a group of Ascension Dark Heresy characters with a pvp Black Crusade game. It was quite the game. I had a Psyker of Nurgle go up against a Sister Sororita as I NPCed the Battle Sister, it was quite cool to see the battle unfold. Faith Talents versus rotting psyhic powers of the Father of Rot.
