RAW - Integrated Weapons for Tech-Priests?

By FieserMoep, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hi Folks,

I just came here to ask if there is a paragraph in the "Lathe Worlds" that allows Tech-Priests to take the "Exotic Weapons Training" for integrated weapons. I just had a short look on the Rulebook of a friend but neither did I found this Talents in the "New Skills & Talents" Section that updates the Career for Tech-Priests nor did I found this Talent anywhere, exept in the Crimson Guard entry. So I wonder if it is missed in RAW to mention this Talents for the Tech-Priests of if it is RAI to exclude them?

No, there's no specific inclusion of that Exotic Weapon Training. Like a lot of these things, they would be Elite Advances (or if you table as Exotic Weapon Training (Pick One), you could pick Integrated Weapons).

Ah, thank you. I guess I have to convince my GM then. I was just wondered how it came that such a Talent was not listed for Tech-Priests.

To be honest? 'Cause it's not really their 'thing', or, at least, it's more a Crimson Guard thing than a Tech-Priest thing. Integrated Weapons are the signature of the Venatorii, not Average Joe Tech-Priest. The extra Luminen Talents are there because I wanted them to 'scale' (ie. have a second level so they're not useless once your TP gets a Bolt Pistol). However the Integrated Weapons just follow the same pattern as any other exotic weapon from any other splat book - there is no specific training therefore they should be done via Elite Advances.

And if you're having trouble convincing your GM just tell him that, although I cannot give official answers, the guy who wrote both the rules for Integrated Weapons, the Crimson Guard and most of the new Talents says that's the way he'd do it. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Al right, though in my Opinion a Rank 8 Magus is no Joe Tech-Priest anymore. M) But I get your point. I was just wondered because in my Opinion a Tech-Priest should get his hands on any kind of technology though it should be linked to some careers. For example the secutor career, the militant approach, has its respective exotic weapon trainings.

I know that no common Tech-Priests would get his hands on the high-end stuff of a specific field of technology but atleast the Magi with their different specialisms should have no borders beside the reputation thing as it already works for the Axe/Rod. Especialy if you take into account that (depending on the novel) some Tech-Priests are friggin death-machines even Space Marines "fear" - Or because of the lack of this emotion "respect".^^

But yes, an elite advancements should do the trick though I wonder what XP cost it should have? I gues around 200-300? As the writer what would be your suggestion?

PS: I love the luminen talents, they are not strong enough to outclass other gear but still strong enough to be an ace in the hole or to create awsome situations. KA ME HA ME HA!^^

My question about the Talent 'Integrated Weapon Proficiency (Ballistic/Melee)' is this:

Do you need the Proficiency in the specific weapon class too? i.e. to use an integrated flamer, do you need both Integrated and Flamer proficiencies?

Logic would say yes, but the text isn't clear.
