When are the movement wheels locked in?

By alanshotfirst, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I know the rules say you can pick them up and look at them at any time before you "play" them, but was curious about when you would consider them "locked in"?

The gentleman in me would say when you put them face down on the table near your ship, but until they are all face down do you think you should be able to adjust them?

Thoughts?

Once all movement wheels (maneuver dials) are placed faced down, and both players agrees, that ends the Planning Phase and are not allowed to change their decisions.

But before that, if you (for example) set a maneuver on 2 of your X-Wings, then change your mind after seeing how your third one needs to move, you could adjust the previous maneuvers as long as everyone's still planning their moves.

I too buy into the belief that you can change them up until the point that all wheels are placed face down.

You could even throw in a verbal check before revealing to avoid any problems.

That's what I always do. I've been known to switch it last-second, so the verbal check is definitely appreciated.

This really is the only way to go, and is the most sportsmanlike way to handle it. Something as simple as "Ready to move on?" or "Any changes before we resolve movement?" will do.
