FFG stepping up like a BOSS!!! I am so glad they put an end to that.
For those of us keeping scores at home:

The final table at the Melee tournament at the World Championships ended with 3 disqualifications for colluding.

hehe while this was of course my initial reaction, quitting would be ludicrious. I love the game, FFG is an awesome company, and they did what they had to do to protect what they felt was a breach of integrity in the game. I gotta respect that even if i disagree with the decision. No hard feelings to Nate, Damon, Ktom or anyone else involved with making it.
They put on a kickass event, i had an awesome time all day meeting everyone (including getting the verbal smackdown in round 3 from ktom which sucked, but kinda made my night), they had awesome prize support and pretty much made the event everything that the fans asked for all year.
So no, no raqequitting here, just sleeping before the joust wihich now starts in 8 hours.
Edit: the reason we were given for the DQ was that three of us were 'shutting out' the fourth player, and not challenging eachother, which is something that i disagree with completely. Mathieu was running Heir to the Throne (no int) and the other three of us were running shadows and spiders, horrible coincidence for him. That being said, I did indeed try to get erick second place before making the winning challenge (a deal that i offered to mathieu first i might add, which he opted to turn down) because he (erick) was the only reason i was in position to win In the first place, so i thought id repay the kindness and up his standings for overall points. So if that is DQ'able, then i am absolutely guilty.
Either way, g'night to all and ill see ya at the joust tomorrow (assuming theyll let me in the building
).

I am still trying to figure out what I think about the overall decision made, but I did want to say that this response from Dennis definitely reminds me why I love this game and its community.
Even though Dennis is pretty much this year's top rated bridesmaid, he responded with total maturity. Good call, dude. Now I just hope we don't pair up tomorrow.
This game was so wrong in so many ways. How could you even think for a second that FFG did NOT make the right call.
The french player coud not make it to 15 powers and they decided to shut him up completely. Next to him is Dennis, 14 powers, about to win while none of the other two martell even try to stop him. Then, they even decide on who's to be second, third and fourth… That's messed up.
FFG was completely right. Nate disqualified the three guys that clearly did not respect the collusion rule.

TL; DR : we colluded and paid the iron price
Shame. I can't get the link to work…

They should not have been disqualified for collusion based on locking out the 4th playing with good plot choices. It's unfortunate that the French player's Agenda worked against him, but that's part of the possible drawback that comes from playing an agenda.
They should have been disqualified for trying to set-up rankings.
I don't know, it's a very difficult problem.
If you isolate the last game, it's just bad pairing for maekar (french player)….been there
.
Not really out of the game rules, or even colusion rules.
For me the colusion comes before, but without having more info about numbers is still hard to gouge.
For example: How many DC metamates where in the melee tourney? 15? 20? // out of a field of 54. How many tables had 2 or more of theese metamates?? Did they destroy big competition in games so they would not top 16? (where ¿7? DC guys went)….it all comes down to who has the bigger organized meta.
If all that is accounted it sure looks like pre-arranged colusion and a very good strategy also. I hope nobody have bad blood now, remember it's all a game!!
(maybe from now on, the 4 finalists should make a card each that interacts with each other cards like rock, paper, scissors)

The official ruling was for collusion to lock out the French player. I agree it was an unfortunate match up for him. The decks all played that plot since they were control deck and the plot controls 2 archetypes in heir dragons and stark siege really well. It was an unfortunate match up for him.
Regarding comments about "determining who was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th" that did not happen. If it did, the game wouldn't have taken so long. It would have quickly been over on round 2 or 3. They only deal in that regard is The French player could have kept Dennis from winning on his turn with his dragons. Dennis offered to make sure he was second if he let him win instead of Rich who would certainly win if it made it to him. He refused the deal. Erick jumped in to say he would help Dennis win for second. They stripped the dragon's icons to ensure Dennis first. Not wanting to navigate his friend in a recorded game and never be trusted in a melee game again, they worked to figure out how to bump Erick up to second to honor the agreement. It was in Dennis' best interest b/c it would guarantee his win. It was in Erick's best interest b/c he had no hope of getting a turn and could boost his points for overall from 3rd or 4th to 2nd. If making a deal that says I have no hope of winning, so I'll help one person win for a boost to 2nd place at the table is vision, then it happens at 90% of melee tables.
I ask someone to tell me what decision anyone should have made differently to be more assigned with their best interests. Please point that out.
tl;dr if there was collusion the game would have ended much faster. The "I can't win this round and someone will before my turn, so I'll let someone else win for a bump to 2nd place" deal happens at a majority of tables.

This is exactly the type of thing that they should have been disqualified for. Dennis (on the FFGWorlds twitter account) said that he should have been disqualified for trying to give Erick second place, but not for locking out the French player. EVERYONE should be trying to win the game (that means come in first); if you are making deals to come in 2nd (or lower), then you are colluding.

If after playing multiple rounds for first place then realizing your best hope for the table is third or second if you make a deal, and making that final turn deal is collusion then it happens at a majority of tables. It happens all the time b/c it is in both players interests once it reaches the point that the player taking second realizes he or she cannot win and is lower than second without the deal.

This was the final table, you have no interest but first place.
If after 5 or 6 rounds you cannot get first, you do for overall points hoping to do well in the joust
Whoa. I have to say despite what has happened on this forum this was a way classy stance taken DCDennis. I clicked here with trepidation and I'm feeling kind of up now, not from the result, wasn't there so I can't comment, but on the response.
Now to see if Buttermilk Channel is open for brunch this morning. Brooklyn seems to have weathered the storm pretty well and I'm now in the mood for pecan pie french toast. If I can't be at worlds I can at least enjoy my trip as much as possible. #jealous
