I had seen folks discussing tournament scoring on the FFG Forums (and of course now can't find the thread over there) and noticed a couple of players stating that a ship that spent or lost an upgrade during the game didn't count those points if the ship was still in the board at the end of the game. This seemed really counter-intuitive to me based on numerous other games.
So I sent in a question asking for clarification. My example in the question was a Gold Squadron Y-Wing that begins with 2xTorps, an ICT and a 1 point Astromech. The ship expends both torpedoes during the game and is still on the board at game end. Is it worth 24 or 32 points. The answer I rec'd today confirms that it is worth the initial cost of 32.
FFG Response:
The squad point costs of Upgrade cards are counted regardless of whether the cards were discarded. Even a secondary weapon that is discarded by a Munitions Failure Damage card is still counted when the ship's value is totaled.
In your example, the Gold Squadron Pilot's total value is 32 (ship cost + the total of all of its upgrades). Thus, feel free to fire away!
Thanks for playing!
