Im fairly new to the game and was sure i read that you can claim the bonus power for an unopposed challenge once a turn. But when i read through the rules again I cant find it.

Please can someone set me straight on this?

You're probably confusing this with the power you can claim for winning a challenge against a player with a multiplayer title you oppose, which you can do only one per round. Power for an unopposed challenge can be claimed as many times as applicable during a round.
