Diversity

By Smazzurco, in UFS Rules Q & A

So yeah...how dows it work?

All the donnys play against eachother till one remains? Donnys all flip a coin and one gets to advance?

Just wondering how you "come out ahead in diversity"

I thought about playing Lien instead of Donny but her ability is almost garbage in my deck.

Would it matter if either her/donny was in my sideboard?

And if this isnt Q/A im sorry, but it seemed the best place to post

Thanks

Diversity works like this

your top 8 is this :

Donovan *

Alex

Morrigan

Zi Mei

Sagat

Yi Shan

Akuma

Donovan ***

So you had 2 donovan's regardless if they are a different version the lowest rank donovan gets cut from the top and the 9th place character would make it in . Of course if another character has the same character as someone else in the top 8. Then you go down the list until you find another character who isn't in the top 8 .

Ok. So basically, its the highest 8 finishing different characters. If positions 1-8 were all Rikuo then you might get the 1st, 9th, 10th, etc.

And i am correct that only your "starting" character is counted correct? So i am best off (diversity wise) to start with some shoddy character and swap in donny. (like i heard of Zi Mei at worlds)

Yes your character you start with is what your known by so if your playing water donovan but start with chun li and board into donovan games 2 and 3. Then your registered character will be chun li.

Its a little more complex than that. Look at it this way, at the end of swiss there will be rankings first till whatever.

First place is automatically in, character is now diversified.
Second place checks diversified characters. If his character is on the list hes out, if not it gets added to the list and he is in.
Third place checks diversified characters. If his character is on the list hes out, if not it gets added to the list and he is in.

And you basicly go down the line untill one of 2 things happens. Either you fill your top slots with players who were not booted from diversity, or you run out of players. I have actually had the second instance happen at an event, but there is no offical accounting for if that happens cause its likley hood is pretty much Nill.
