Axis Übertoten Assault Squad

By Kriegschatten, in Dust Tactics

Of all of the new units announced today, this is the one I'm most curious about.

Do you think they will by Type 3 with Damage Resilient and Fast, like the other zombies?

And what about weapons? Looks like they're carrying some sort of submachine gun. I assume that it will have stats similar to the SSU's PPSh-48.

The blurb talks about the "new" MG-48 and Panzerfaust 100, but the MG-48 is the same machine gun that the Recon Grenadiers have. So, is the Panzerfaust 100 also the same as the Panzerfausts used by the other Axis infantry? The ones used by the two "normal" zombies look the same, but the one used by the leader appears to have a different tip.

I suspect that these guys are going to be expensive if they have all of the normal zombie abilities--35 points, maybe?

I'm thinking armor 3, resilient, but maybe trading fast for the ranged abilities?

As far as models go, they look so awesome, love them! Might add them to my Axis army just for the looks.

Hope they're faithful to the Dust Zombies: Resilient and fast…but I can easily see them being OP if they get both.

We'll see but they look awesome! :)

Absolutely stoked about this new unit: while I wasn't so enthusiast for the old "classical" zombie squad, these guys in uniform have the right look to be fielded in my army.

The Panzerfaust 100 held by the squad leader should be a more powerful version of the classical panzerfaust, or following the outlook seen before in various units, a specialized anti-tank version of it.

Also: Skysweeper, here I come!

Nice mini's but I am more stoked about the SSU heavy weapon teams, now I reall would love to see such units for my beloved axis.

I don't think those are armour 1 guys, they all are wearing body armour so it's quite possible for them to be armour 2.

My mistake in lumping them all together. The SSU guys are wearing body armor but not the marines. Either way they are the coolest new minis so far!!! I just got a 50cal from quarter kit to make a 3 man team but i guess ill wait for the new minis to come out.

I wonder if we will be getting some US Marine infantry as well? It would be a little odd fielding tropical support troops alongside Arctic parka infantry!

I love the SSU support stuff and the zombies are a big improvement over the current sets.

Perhaps there will be Japanese troops soon?

Hope so. That Japanese walker seen in an old illo was awesome, round radio antenna/railing and all.

Do you think that the there will be other Ubertoten sqauds coming?

It would be cool to have a sqaud with one panzer glove and and a submachine gun.

The tesla gun heavy weapon team looks great can't wait for it to be available.

Allies new heavy walker look good wish it had dozerblade though.

I have no doubt there will be more zombies squads coming. I would love to see zombie "walker" squads without panzer gloves that still have damage resilience that cannot dish out much damage, but are much cheaper in AP, that could be deployed as a "meat wall" to advance other squads behind like you can in Secrets of the Third Reich.

You mentioned "walker" squads, and that got me thinking about a Walker, a tank, piloted by zombies. I don't know how that would be differ from a normal walker, but the concept does sound very cool!

Zombie Paratroopers! Zombies with frickin' lasers! Zombies with bees in theirs mouths!

I'm gettin some of these badboys.

Also, Loop, a zombie driving a Loth… It would be different. Charge plus some Zombie Pilot Crazy skill. Or the Dozer Walker with a bucketful of 'em.

I would see it as a one time vehicle to unleash a horde of them when it crashes into sth:D

Yeah, or even a drop container (like the AT-43 cargo containers) that were dropped full of zombies from German air support would cool.

It would be like dropping hornets nest on someone. Maybe for balancing, Axis can container drop for same turn zombie deployment, but has to roll to see how many of the zombie "cargo" survive the quick drop?

Hmmm i seen someone do that for dust here on forums..

Thought make them cheep and have them move in a random direction and attack the closest target friend or foe. They are the rejects that do not fit in the operational teams so they drop them on the enemy and hope for the best.

Yeah in S.O.T.R. (another Weird War II mini game which was the genesis of the thought) there are Sturmzombies that are the "smarter" zombies, the successful experiments capable of taking commands, then the "meat wall" zombies that mill about and are only kind of the controllable by a "Pinger" that is a sort of zombie wrangler herding them in the general direction of the enemy.

Its almost like gas attack in principle: release a large concentration and hope there is a dispersion that favors your troops.

Ubertoten Zombie squad with demo charges strapped to their chest that they detonate before death causing damage to adjacent enemy troopers or walkers.

And then you have a medic squad that sews them up and they are back in the game soon! :D

Sounds like the SOTR Bomberzombies. Explosive kamikaze zombie units used both in SOTR and the boardgame, Inrcursion (its like a Weird War II Space Hulk). The SOTR Bomberzombies are pictured above, the Incursion ones have large Naval mines surgically implanted in their guts. I dont think medics can put these guys back together again, as there is likely not much left than a putrescent jelly stain. Link to more pics below.

I'm still hoping for a Zombie Command Squad whose medic makes your fallen units into zombies.

The Ubertoten Assault Squad has been added to the Axis product list for the premium miniatures.

They just have the usual super-tiny pic of the unit card, but it looks like they're definitely armor 3.

Also, I think that they may have one line for normal Panzerfausts and a second for the leader's Panzerfaust 100, but that's a little hard to decipher.

They're unit cost is also cutoff (of course). And it doesn't look like they have Fast, but it could just be on the portion of the card that was cutoff.
