HUGE thanks to the Buffalo crew for making Hammercon worth running for me. I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate it. Also thanks to Wapcaplets for interviewing me for his blog over on Team Covenant.

I'll let Gerry and Steve give their own break downs of their matches but here are the squads that were run:

Armoredgear7 had never played a full game, only about half an hour playing the Luke Skywalker with R2 against 2 Tie Fighters a month ago. I suppose he had been paying more attention to the X-Wing demos going on at the table beside him while he was demoing MERCS than he let on. He was at the con and decided to jump in at the last minute, because I'd put it out there that if anyone wanted to play they could use my ships. This is what I threw together for him and told him how to play it:

Wedge with R2 Astromech
Biggs with R2-F2
Rookie Pilot x2
100 pts

Captain Gig

Horton-Torp x2, Ion, R2 Astro
Wedge Marksmanship
Biggs, R2

100 pts

Luke

Howlrunner
Mauler -Marksmanship
Dark Curse
Backstabber
Winged Gundark
Night Beast

Alex

Vader, Marksmanship, Cluster Missiles
Marek
Tempest
Dark Curse

Thanks for the report, sounds like it went well.

Thanks Don, great fun. I do not like losing to my son but might as well keep the winning in the Family. Got some breaks in my win vs Capt GIG, or just bad flying by his Y-wing. Its nice to avoid 2 rounds of ion cannon blast while he is stuck in an asteriod. The last match was the best, even with the lose. The other Chris did some great flying, zigging and zagging the last 3 rounds of the game with his burning Tie (1 more hit and its gone and I take the victory) As Luke and a Rookie pilot gave chase but could never get within the firing arc to take it down until the last few seconds of the game. Just as I was about to pick up the dice to roll the Judge yells "all dice down". Chris let me roll anyway and I came up missing with both ships. This felt like a true dog fight all day, and my hats off to his flying.

Chris Cook

Forgot to mention that Backstabber was his MVP and true to his name he was attacking most of the day with 5dice. What a pain in the ass he was, no puin intended.

This may be a bonehead question, but how was Backstabber getting 5 dice?

Chris is mistaken he meant to say 4 Dice.
