What Campaigns Have You Run?

By darksabrz, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

I was curious: what sorts of campaigns have you all, as GMs, run for your various groups? It doesn't have to be anything current (especially if it's something that your players might see and read), but just different stories and campaign arcs that you've run for Deathwatch (or for any other Warhammer 40K games like RT, DH or BC -- or even Only War, if you've done anything in passing with the beta for it).

I've run a few and have had boat loads of fun doing it man. Warhammer is so freakin awesome. I finally found a game that I'm decent at and look forward to the games I run. While I mostly stick to play by post for by gaming outlet. I cant seem to find a group near me that likes Deathwatch, Only War, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader and Black Crusade. I would have to say that my favorite game that I'm running right now is a dungeon crawl within one of the Lost Cloisters of the Grey Knights. I made sure that the party was all Grey Knights and there was one Dark Angel who in game is earning his trust by the Knights. If you know by reading Daemonhunter, there are seven Cloisters or fortresses and one of them was lost. So like it really didn't go into detail which got my wheels turning. I said, why not make it a dungeon crawl. So I through in traps from a dungeons and dragons 4th edition game, encounters from mostly Mark of the Xenos and Kornonus Bestiary and used the ruinous power of Tzeentch as a game element. I must say that instead of having individuals use psychic powers. I used most psychic powers from the Tome of Fate to use as illusionary spells and the mystical trappings of the mysterious Tzeentch. I fleshed out fifty rooms and randomized it so if I ever wanted to do that again I could have an entirely different game. Throw in some Thousand Sons and make the cloister headed for the Eye of Terror so that the implied crash course would cause armageddon. I think right now just somthing as simple as the Techmarine trying to restore oxygen and power to the 1st level of the Fortress has happened. The kill team made mince meat out of some Khymeras but I heavily injured the Dark Angel Apothecary and lightly wounded the Grey Knight Techmarine.

I've run two games, both of which had to be aborted in the initial stages due to RL concerns.

The first one was a Dark Heresy game about the Ordo Xenos with a focus on Xenophiles. The arch was that it was supposed to start with some cases of Cold Trade and xenolotry but grow into a great conspiracy which would threaten to put and entire sub-sector to the torch. I'm still hoping to run that game sometime in the future so I don't want to give away to much.

Seconldy I ran a Black Crusade game which would be focused on the Heretics initially serving and then overtaking a daemon prince and claim his resources for their own. The game started with the Heretics captive by the Inquisition but they break out from the prison and then goes on to kill the local Imperials and escape into the Vortex. There they would run into a group of vessels who would try to board their stolen vessel, but thanks to fighting off the attack the leader, a daemon prince, would congratulate them and take them into his service. From there on they would make oaths to him and use his mini-empire as a base to launch their own operations, and support his, before they could gather enough power to rebell and topple the daemon prince from his throne, or maybe he would see them as a threat and go after them himself.

I run a Dark Heresy campaign as my primary game; when two or more of our six players can't make it to a game, we play Deathwatch instead, which lends itself well to 'episodic' stand-alone missions. Currently our Killteam is undertaking a series of missions sweeping a Genestealer infestation out of a Space Hulk so that it can be salvaged by the Imperium.

I was keeping a campaign journal for my DH campaign, but I've allowed it to get rather badly out-of-date:

-Since the last post, the Acolytes have thwarted a massive group of Pilgrims of Hayte trying to topple an Imperial world (the longest mission yet); 'unofficially' assassinated a corrupt Inquisitor; thwarted a rebellion by mutants armed with xeno weapons; and retrieved a book of sorcerous rituals from a Space Hulk (yes, the same one the Killteam is clearing; I thought it would be fun for the two teams of PCs to meet).
