Fio*

By player2202059, in UFS Rules Q & A

Fio * has one ability... its either going to be amazing and i'm changing my deck to work with her, or I'm going to be pissed and drink a fifth of whiskey... actually I might drink the whiskey either way.... Ok for my question:

The ability- F commit: until the end of the turn, whenever you add 1 or more cards to your momentum, your opponent adds 1 card from their hand to their momentum. If your opponent has no cards in their hand after that, they may add all the cards in their momentum to their hand.

SO I use her ability- then use Clean Freak and add a bunch of their foundations to their mo-

AND then I use N type human's ability.

We each add 1 card to momentum and then they add an additional one...

Then I respond with Ikari Warrior's ability

Yes, this is a complicated and weird way to make them loose their hand while at the same time, killing their mo, and giving me mo, oh and letting me clear up some of their hard to deal with foundations.

Here is the rules question (p.s. I already started the whiskey down.... so I might not type real good anymore)

CAN, I use this little thingy here to make them put their last card into their mo- but still make them discard their momentum before the part where if it is the last card in their hand they get to draw their mo into it....

BTW, I've now been drinking for 5 minutes, so if you are going to answer me, explain how it does or doesn't work in detail... and pretend that your explaining it in a way that a drunk person will understand... in fact don't pretend, because I'll get there before you get done explaining it.

yes, ikari warrior can respond off fio to get rid of all their momentum

the trigger is when the momentum is added, so the ability pauses and ikari warrior discards everything before they add it all to their hand

Actually i'm realatively sure if you add the last card in their hand to their momentum they will get it back. The fact of the matter is that when you play Fio's effect you create a floating effect whose trigger is (basically) "After your opponent adds their last card in their hand to their momentum, they may add their entire momentum to their hand."

Ikari's Trigger is after they add a card to their momentum. So using basic UFS knowledge floating effects always resolve before responses. So if you do add the last card in their hand to their momentum Fio's floating will resolve and then the window for responses is officially open.

Point is if you want to just completely dominate your opponents momentum/hand/staging area then yes you can use ikari warrior to discard their momentum after you n-type human 2 cards from their hand to their momentum and so forth.

Just make sure you don't add the last card from their hand to their momentum due to fio's effect before reacting with ikari.

Well which one is it?

Where are the damned timing rules for this game?

im saying if youy react to the momentum added due to fios ability, while its resolving he stops it and says, i will respond with ikari warrior after you gain the momentum, before the floating effect gets to the part of adding their momentum to their hand. so if you react the momentum gain from n type, yes they will get their momentum back to their hand due to the reason dragoku pointed out. but if you react to the momentum that they gain from fio's floating effect, it will interrupt the rest of the ability until ikari warrior discards their momentum

This is why i posted what i did..... it doesn't interrupt anything. The response trigger is the same as fio's floating. I was pointing out that if the last card in their hand is added due to fio's the game goes "OK there is a trigger here" and the trigger is "My opponent added something to their momentum" but more specifically that "My opponent added the last card in their hand to their momentum. The game then goes "Ok are there any floating effects for this specific trigger" and then it says "oh ya! Fio's ability floats on this" then it resolves. Then the game goes "So does the player who's turn it is have any responses?" at which point the player would go "I respond with Ikari Warrior". And so forth. I'm not saying i'm right or anything i'm just saying, based on my knowledge of the game rules, this is how it should work.

Just hit 'em w/ the Ikari Warriors when they add the second to last card from hand to momentum. Foundations gone, momentum gone... and they'll have 1 card in hand....

Don't re-word Fio's ability for "convenience". That's not what she says.

This is similar to Rat Chaser vs. Blind Stance. The response cuts into the middle of the ability, does its thing, then the ability finishes resolving.

They'll gain the momentum, Ikari warrior will respond and make them discard it, then they'll try to get it back to hand.

can we get some stamps or otherwise an official answer?
