Feline Spike

By vyexcel, in UFS General Discussion

IS ON EBAY FOR $45.... (SUPPLY < DEMAND)

What the hell is wrong with this card? I honestly don't believe it's price shot up to THAT much; Is it really worth this much now?

No. It's not worth more than 20 dollars at max.

The only reason it's 45$ is because people are desperate for it.

It's the most "obviously" powerful kill card in the game, from a sold out set.

I figured, why would anyone pay that much for JUST the card? You can almost buy the entire booster box for that much.

I think it's ridiculous how high the price shot up for this card alone. Even CSI sells it for $30 (Out of stock, of course.)

Reprint of Realm of Midnight boosters please.

Doing a limited reprint run of Realm of Midnight, with fixed character distribution would be a huge show of faith and goodwill from FFG towards the UFS customer base, but probably a financial disaster.

Especially with set 12 being so close. They want all our focus to be on ShadoWar, not a reprinted set.

I'm utterly postive everyone will forget about spike come next release. There is no way that these sets arent chock full of awesome and I would hope not 1 checks. As soon as a decent 2 or 3 check kill comes out thats even close to spikes powerlevel its good bye spike.

I think Spike will go down to 15 when set 1 drops in a few weeks so people please stop making all these threads about it we have heard everything about the card havent we?

From what I am told by people have seen set 12, the game is store for some massive changes. Spike wont be as relevant im told.

that Spike on ebay is a "buy it now" only, so it doesn't actually reflect what people are willing to pay for it... it just reflects what the seller either thinks its worth or what the seller is demanding for it. i don't think many people would pay more than $20 for a Spike...

Observation: There is also a Penny Arcade "Buy It Now" for $50. UFS on Ebay is in the crapper and has been for some time.

Think of it this way, I bought 3 boxes of RoM when all I wanted was a spike or 2 and got none, so thats $150 dollars I spent to not get a spike. I happily bought a few of my spikes for $30 since it was cheaper then getting a bunch of cards I dont need out of a box.

That's pretty asanine to spend 150$ on one or two cards. If literally all you wanted or needed from the boxes was one card, yet you spent 150$ anyways, I really feel that is an inaccurate benchmark for card value. Why didn't you just offer someone 75$ for one, I am sure even the most ardent player would hand them over for that insane amount.

The card is obviously the current chase kill card, but is there really any need for this ridiculously overinflated implied value?

Its not that he wanted to spend 150 on them its just that boxes cost around 75 and he bought 2 trying to get a spike he still got 2 boxes worth of cards its just that he didnt get what he wanted.....

and id rather spike go for 30 or 40 bucks rather then seeing cards like addes syndicate going for 75 and people were actually paying this much for them i sold 2 of mine for 50 a piece and all it costed me was the cost of a draft

actually it was 50 dollars a piece so 150 for 3 boxes, but same principle

And my only question to the other guy is have you ever tried to get a feline spike? I was actually offering 50 dollars a piece for spikes and people still werent selling them >_>
And its not like I lost my money buying the boxes, I got 3 Lotm, a spinta, kiri, 2 darkness blades, 2 ggerdenheims, 2 cats reflexes, etc...

Wow, they are that rare? I got one of them in a pack yesterday without knowing how rare they were. I'm really glad I didn't trade it.

I think out of the combined 10-12 boxes that have been opened in my playgroup(not to mention the packs from the store) we pulled a total of 2 Feline Spikes. How ever thanks to "the site" I have a playset and so does one of my buddies.

People were paying $60 for Addess Syndicates left and right and 'the site' couldn't keep them in stock. I don't see how $45 for Spike's is a surprise to anyone.

I just want to point out that I saw those ones on ebay like a week ago, so clearly they arent actually "going" for 45 lol, they are just available

using the "buy it now"s on ebay as a price guide is a terrible idea >_> only use the auctions on ebay (the ones where you can actively enter bids/outbid other people) because those are reflections of what people are willing to pay for them...

but it appears i may have to try and get an extra Spike if people are willing to pay $50 for them, that'll pay off 2 prereleases for next month...

and then, it will start again (banwagon, whine, etc) releasing cards more powerful than previous ones is not always an option. anyway, we have lunar slash.

He didn't say "better than spike", he said "even close to spike's power level" but with a 2cc.

Well, Horvath was nice enough to reprint Mark of the Beast while saying, "there's a character in Shadowar with a lot of multiples", so methinks there'll be even more anti-multiple support.

Of course, that means next to nothing: in practical use, Feline is used to seal the game, much like Concealed, except unlike Concealed, which required enough foundations (and being negated was teh ewwwz), Feline has pretty much no weakness nor problem building momentum for the kill. Did I mention its multiples can't be discarded by Mark of the Beast? =D

Judging from Set 11, the cards in Set 12 won't be sufficient inferior to Feline Spike for Spike to remain the favored win condition for a majority of the field. Or to rephrase, Set 12's cards won't suck so hard that Feline Spike will remain the king of the mountain.

There was a time ago when we would have looked a spike and say MEH, why use this over these other kills that dont have 1 checks, even when said kills were clearly less brutal. I feel that will be the case soon enough.

I have high hopes that something like geri loop or chain throw looping will come back in a little bit more of a balanced way in the near future.
