Android: Netrunner The Card Game
World Championship tournament!
The tournament’s top four finishers will each earn a set of seven acrylic identity cards, and the World Champion wins a trophy, a one-of-a-kind playmat, and the opportunity to work with the FFG LCG developers to upgrade the game with his own card design.
Players looking to participate in the World Championship tournament need to bring both corp and runner decks. Match rounds last sixty-five minutes, and you and your opponent play two games, taking turns playing corp and runner decks. The player who scores more total points over both games wins the match.
Start prepping your ice and icebreakers. Your chance to run at the title of World Champion begins Friday, November 9th at 4 PM.
Can someone explain the format? Two out of three per pairing? Do you role for Corp or Runner? How many rounds? Can you change decks once played?

Tournament rules are on the support page. www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp Matches are played best of two, once you play as Corp and then as Runner, you randomly determine who plays which first. Number of matches would depend on how many show up. You can never change decks in any TCG tournament I have ever played in.

Have you attended one of these FFG events before. Is it like Gen Con in terms of atmosphere? Is there an airport nearby? Are there hotels next to the tournament center?
Never been , yet. Info on event centre is on the site too.

Thank you for the link, but it does not talk about all of the info that should easily be found regarding the World Championship.
That link I gave was to explain the event center itself and where it is located as you were asking about stuff located near it. The World championship page is different and is under the Events page. www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp
Not as big as gencon as it is just one game company, but epic in its own way.
VERY near motels, but not TONS else (check google maps).
A short taxi to the center from the airport.

Thank you. You are very helpful on every board that I have visited. If you don't work for FFG, they should hire you. You read the boards and answer questions extremely quickly. it is very helpful. The FFG message board is a bit difficult to find answers. I can't figure out why. But, please keep up the excellent work.
i would come from germany to participate ^^ but no register slots open the whole time *sad*

Please come to Gen Con. Probably the same cost, but you have until August 2013 to save. I assure you that FFG has a great set-up/ And, you get everything else.

Being from Minnesota, and having been to the Event Center several times, there are multiple restaurants about 1/4 mile away, just up the road. There is also a nearby shopping mall and district. Two hotels are literally within walking distance, if you enjoy a short walk in Minnesota pre-winter. Plus, there is also a liquor store a few blocks away. And many bars.
Hope to see some of you there, though I may have to leave early Friday night. My wife and I own a game store about an hour north of the Event Center, and if things are busy that night I'll have to drop from the event. But I still want to play.
For those curious, they'll be using the format posted in the Tournament Rules document in the Support section of the game's website.
Quick rundown so you don't have to load:
Players play 2 games, 1 as Corporation, 1 as Runner.
Winner of the coin flip picks if they are the Corporation or the Runner first.
The Time limit is 65 minutes.
Within a match, you score 10 Agenda points for a win, and the total number of points you managed to score/steal for a loss.
The winner of an individual game scores 2 Prestige.
Individual Game results must be verified by a Judge and recorded before moving to the second part of the match. (It was this way at Gen Con, however, I'm not sure if they'll be continuing this at the World Championship, though I think they should).
At the end of both games, the player with more Agenda Points scores an additional 2 Prestige.
Parings are based on Prestige, then I believe are paired after that based on total Agenda Points or Strength of Schedule, I can't remember.
The Top Cut is then played as a single-elimination bracket with no time limit.
Example:
I'm playing my friend Josh in a tournament. During my game as the Corporation, he barely ekes me out 7-6. Josh's Agenda score becomes 10, and he scores 2 prestige.
During my Runner game, I'm lucky enough to beat Josh 7-3. I score 10 Agenda points and 2 Prestige.
We then total up our Agenda Points to determine who gets the Match bonus. I have a total of 16, and Josh's total is 13, giving me a bonus 2 Prestige for winning the match.
So you can see figuring your chances of breaking to the Finals is pretty complicated, considering that there's a 6, 4, 2 and 0 result possible for each player each round. It's actually one of my favorite systems I've played under, because it's entirely possible to be further down the rankings, then have a bunch of people above you split 4-2 the round that you 6-0 and then suddenly catapult up to the near top. (Which is what happened during Gen Con for me. I hit a rough patch in round 3, dropping to the low 30's in ranking then 6-0'd my next two rounds and ALMOST made top 8, entirely because of the number of splits that happened higher up in the rankings.)
