A FAQ is posted!!!

By Budgernaut, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Title says it all. Now to go look at the answers. . .

EDIT: I suppose I should link to the support page.

Huzzah! My hero….

I'll be collecting my Marksmanship Smug. Thank you very much.

It looks like FFG is leaning toward a more hardcore-gamer style of rules:

Q: Does Biggs Darklighter’s pilot ability
require an attacker to use its primary
weapon against Biggs, even if the attacker
could use a secondary weapon against
another ship?
A: Yes. If possible, the attacker must target Biggs
instead of any other ship. If the attacker has more
than one weapon available, it must use a weapon
that can target Biggs.

Q: Can Garven Dreis spend a focus token to
modify dice even if he didn’t roll any [EYE]
symbols?
A: Yes.

Q: Can a ship spend a target lock and choose
not to reroll any of its attack dice?
A: Yes.

Biggs is better than I thought he was.

Backstabber like a TIE Interceptor against the Senator's shuttle token.

*smacks head* a good FAQ, cleared allot of things up. But some of the questions and answers were a bit buggy….

"Additionally, if the ship’s maneuver template
extends over a corner of the play area, the ship is
destroyed instead of fleeing successfully." Does this mean if the template is off the edge even when you land back on the board? I found the answer to the fleeing question rather frustrating, as its found in the mission section….

all in all Im glad an faq was posted and see I was wrong about a couple

Vader with Expert Handling. A ship that barrel rolled and has Expert Handling and receives an action from Squad Leader.

Edit: I caught him mid edit…. :|

The reason it's in the mission section is that some missions require "fleeing" off of a particular edge. That answer seems to say that the corner does not count as the edge.

That wording goes on to say the ships final position is all that matters. Don't worry about where the template is, only that it ends its move on the table.

In a previous thread discussing this topic, its important to recognize that the rules steps involved here have you "pick up" the model, not "slide" the model across the template. As long as the model stays on the field, you're good.

I like how a lot of people scattered out of the rules forum as soon as this FAQ was posted.

My opinion is that is a good thing… Pretty simple game and the FAQ answer a majority of debated rules.

Generally, at this point reading the Rules Questions forum is an exercise in holding my tongue. I check it regularly to keep tabs for the local group, though. But the FAQ pretty much covers everything. Most new questions now (and many before) could be answered by reading the rulebook a bit more closely or simply applying basic logic.

I've noticed you being a little more short with people who post terrible questions recently.

Hopefully I'm not rubbing off on you.

And while I'm generally a very forgiving person in real life (really I promise) I can't let go and won't drop an argument til it's done or I've won/proved my point. It's a character flaw. Particularly if I feel a person is being disrespectful, rude, or terribly unreasonable.

I try to just pass stuff by. But life has been draining my patience lately and I'm afraid I've let that bleed into the forums a bit. Woops.

It's not so much the questions, man. Those I can deal with. I get it. I just have to assume, if nothing else, that there's no reason a portion of the community couldn't be 10 year old kids that need a bit of extra help. It's the attitude that gets me. Granted, I'm overly sensitive that way. I readily admit that. It's mostly because incredibly obnoxious kids, idiots, and flat out…is douchebags an acceptable forum term? Forgive me if it's not. Anywho, those types ruined Xbox Live for me. I got so fed up, I literally threw my xbox out my window. Granted, I had a spare, but still. I never play anymore.

When I said, "Hopefully I'm not rubbing off on you" I really meant, "Welcome to the Dark Side."
