Creating a Slaaneshi Cult

I am creating my first adventure, and i need some help with ideas for a Slaaneshi Cult.

The adventure begins in the underhive of Siberus, where the PC:s are sent to investigate a missionary cult of priests. The cult is treatening the local crimelords and are converting people. The campain will end at Malfi when the PC:s has found clues who the real masters behind the cult is and so on.

But how do a Slaaneshi cult infiltrate, corrupt and work? I want it to be sublime and hidden, slow corruption and so on, Any ideas?

For a stereotypical Slaanesh cult = seducing sex addicts, I figure that they will start slow and then pick up speed for their members. Most likely they will organize various decadent/half forbidden activites like sex parties, drug dens and from there on pick up the members who show character and drive. Then next stage might be that the "recruits" are brought into the forbidden area like snuff and if the recruits still hunger for more, they are properly inducted into the worship of Slaanesh and the proper cult.

Yeah i taught of a cult like " The cult of the Loving Saint (Drusus)". They are promising a relief from the gray, dull life of the underhives and manufactoriums, and are using drugs that enhances colors and makes the world a bit less dull. The area of the underhive they controll are dressed in bright, screaming colors and so on. I just dont want the players to see that is it a Slaaneshi cult after 20 minutes of play, so a drug cult can be a good idea. But when you get addicted enought, colors arent enought, and then will the sadistic voilence and sex stuff begin.

Is it a good plot?

An imperial cult promising pleasure is very predictable for Slaanesh and it wouldn't surprise your player group. Slaanesh is not just about pleasure however, he also claims passion and decadence as his fiefs.
So you could go with that. Perhaps an art club which wishes to liven up the dreary lives of the common people with lively paintings on public walls or in private worker dwellings. Naturally, some of which are tainted and slowly turn the viewers mad.

Or how about this? A cult named the Emperor's Divine Form recruits people to hunt mutants in the underhive as they are abominations against the divine human form. Such a cult is sure to gain Imperial approval and/or local support and would not appear a typical 'pleasure cult'. After every hunt, the cult enjoys a feast. Tame and proper at first, they slowly become more boisterous but still totally above board.

The most successful hunters or just the most vicious however are slowly sucked into an inner circle of 'elite hunters'. They are seduced by the gift of superior equipment and attend special sessions in which captured mutants are killed or debauched parties take place. All the while, they are lauded as superior hunters who serve the Emperor by killing mutants. This cult is obviously popular with the people as mutants are scary.

But now the cult leadership is broadening their target list….instead of just mutants, it starts adding 'enemies of the true human form' such as local crime lords who turn emperor serving loyal citizens in frightened wrecks or additional criminal scum. If you do this properly, the cult will still appear to be loyal and upright while you can have it do all kinds of underhanded things like take out the opposition of the Slaaneshi cult…

How about the following:


The cult is very imperial in outlook and tends to the downtrodden. The first level does not incorporate ANY kind of drugs or depravity….just a number of "lay brothers and lay sister" (people who are not really "ordained" monks but people who headithe call without any official support but with the guidance of some ordained priests within the cult). Everything standard, nothing special

Step 1): Know your flock

Said "lay brothers/sister" take care of the flock, they talk to them and listen carefully to their troubles, needs and wants….all the while those who are part of the TRUE cult (some of those are, many/the majority are NOT!) gauge their victims and try to see if any of them -might- be fitting converts

Step 2): Opening of the first door
Individual "true" brothers and sister will try to get closer to a target person they have picked among the flock as their "charge". They still tend to the cult as a whole, but try to get a more intense relationship to this one person. As soon as some form of trust and friendship has established they introduce the charge to sex and/or drugs. If the charge is repulsed, the worst thing that might happen is that the charge runs to a priest (of the CULT!) to complaint about the behaviour of "that one lay brother/sister". The upper layers of the cult will take care of it: the offended charge will see the lay brother/sister being visited by priests, taken away…and will later have reason to believe that the "sinner was punished", perhaps even by being flogged in front of the acccusing charge. After all, it is not like the instigator would not be likely to enjoy a good wipping ;) . The "priest" will tell the offended charge not to talk about that instance "as the deed of one shall not bring a bad light upon us all".

Step 3) Initiation
If the charge responses well, he or she will be introduced to some more extrem things… perhaps even within a small group of like minded people (still, none of the PRIESTS show themselves… but other "lay brothers/sisters" are involved…and things become a more sinister twist.

Setp 4) Join our ranks
If the charge accepts what is granted here as well (and might already be addicted to some drug or a total slave to the sexuality he encounters) he or she is introduced into the real cult and will see the priests as what they are for the first time. Now, the charge is unlikely to turn because the charge has committed things the Imperium will punish harshly…things they have ENJOYED. If this last step fails, the cult is of course not to simply snuff the failed convert.

This gives you the possibilty to play a game where some people of the cult went missing or where found dead over time and the PC start to investigate in order to PROTECT an imperial cult from an unknown source that might be evil. Surprise-surprise when the characters find out that the cult itself is the evil…perhaps they will think at first that only a few lay brothers/sisters are slaneshi-cult infilrators while in truth the inner circle is rotten the core.
