Organized X-Wing Play Events in Warrensburg, Missouri

By Curon Hifor, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hey all!

Just wanted to let you all know that we here at Thompson Productions L.L.C. are running organized X-Wing events at our store, every 4th Saturday of each month! Look us up on Facebook! :)

Currently, we're opening dialogue with our players concerning an ongoing X-Wing campaign. Currently, the experimental rules are as follows:

Players must choose a faction: Either Rebel Alliance or Galactic Empire.

Rebel Players start with 2x Rookie Pilot (X-Wings) and 1x Gold Squadron Pilot (Y-Wing).

Imperial Players start with 5x Academy Pilot (TIE Fighters).

Players can modify their forces so long as they do not exceed 60 points.

Each ship needs it's own sheet to track the following: Experience Points, Kills, Crashes, and Games.

Kills: Whenever a Pilot destroys an enemy ship, they gain a kill. Each kill is worth 1 experience point. For every 5 kills, that pilot gains an additional experience point.

Crashes: Whenever a pilot is shot down or otherwise destroyed due to some effect, they gain a point in Crashes. For every 5 crashes, the pilot loses an experience point. After 25 Crashes, the pilot is permenately slain (replace with either Rookie Pilot, Gold Squadron Pilot, or Academy Pilot, whichever is appropriate, at next game).

Games: The number of games the pilot has participated in. Each game participated in and survived awards the pilot 1 experience point.

Experience Points: The number of points gained from Kills and Games survived. Modified by Crashes.

Missions: All missions in the rulebook are used for this campaign, but more often than not, they will be modified. Sometimes, the Rebels will be attacking a supply convoy, other times, the Rebels have to protect a transport full of civilians. Scenarios are determined each month by the Campaign organizer. Most of the scenarios take place in the Goratha System, a particularly large solar system rife with natural resources and political dissatisfaction. The Rebel Alliance has to do what it can to secure resources and approval from the masses, while the Imperials have to put down the rebelling people through intimidation and protect their supply lines and resources. The time to act is at hand.

What do you do with Experience points? Experience points are spent to upgrade pilots from one type to another (such as progressing a Rookie Pilot to Red Squadron Pilot), transferring to different ships (such as from a Y-wing to an X-Wing), or purchasing upgrades (such as Astromech Droids). Pilots that are upgraded from one type to another can be upgraded to "unique" pilots as well, though obviously, the pilot isn't THE Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles. Players can name those pilots whatever they feel like, but the abilities stay the same. To upgrade from one type to another, the pilot has to pay a number of Experience points equal to the points difference between the old and the new. The same is done when transferring to different ships (if the transfer from one ship to another results in a negative number for Experience point cost, you multiply that number by -1 and then pay that amount). Experience points can also be used to purchase additional ships and pilots. Note that one-use weapons (such as Proton Torpedoes) must be re-bought after each use, representing the difficulty and expense of keeping such specialized munitions stocked.

Questions? feel free to ask.
