The Ladder League Finale!

By Viewtiful_Joe, in UFS Uk Forum

First of all, I would like to apologise for how long this has taken me to get up on here, I know some people have been waiting on it for a little while, my only excuse is that life got in the way :P

But enough of that, the time has finally come! First of all, I would like to post the last tournaments results, interesting as they are indeed. ;) Players from the rest of the UK may want to look at this, for no other reason than you'll be pleased to see very different characters on the leaderboards this time...

1st: Alex Polley - Mignon. - 10 Points

2nd: Ricky Gopaul - Kula: - 9 Points

3rd: Jonathan Armstrong - Setsuka:: - 8 Points

4th: Kyle Wright - Jedah: - 7 Points

5th: Paul Watson - Makoto. - 6 Points

6th: Dan Austin - Karin. - 5 Points

7th: Matt Clark - Rolento. - 4 Points

8th: Chris Black - Kyo:. - 3 Points

9th: Matt Peckston - Hsien-Ko: - 2 Points

10th: Newcomer Jonny Ellis and his valiant effort with Mitsurugi:::. - 1 Point

Because of the slightly lower player output this time, the points aren't quite as high as they could have been... It seems the next one will have to be the jackpot! This tournament now leaves the player standings at:

1st: Kyle (Soki) - 30pts
2nd: Ricky (Son Gopaul) - 25pts
3rd: Paul (Theo) - 23pts
4th: Alex (Squall14) - 22pts
5th: Jonathan (Crazy Elf) - 21pts
6th: Dan (Nemesis) - 18pts
7th: Aaron - 17pts
8th: Matt C - 16pts
9th: Rob (Chaos_Child) - 14pts
10th: Stephen - 12pts
11th: David (Davachido) - 10pts
12th: Matt P - 5pts
12th: Chris -5pts
13th: Lee (R. Fluxing) - 4pts
14th: Jonny Ellis - 1pt

Now Kyle might still be sitting at the top, but those scores are certainly looking a little bit closer than before!

This brings me to the point of this topic, the final event of the Colchester UFS Ladder League. Most of you already know what this is, and while the previous events have been tests of your capabilities under stringent rules, this time will be different. This will be a test of you skill as a player. As such, the final event will be Standard Block 3 Constructed . As for date/time/etc.:

**************************************

Date: Friday 13th March

Time: 7PM

Place: Colchester Games Hall

Rules: Standard Block 3 Constructed, Current Banned List

**************************************

There will be prizes for both the tournament itself and for the entire league, and I can tell you now, that it is all worth it, even for those who may not be able to win the league, the tournament prizes are certainly worth waiting for. I was on the phone with Steve earlier today, and from what I hear, we'll definately want as big a tournament as possible, so tell everyone you can that it's happening. I want no less than 16 players this time round! Lets show the UK how big our... um... player base is! (If there's less, I may keep the entire prize pool for myself :D )

Aha, what a day to finish the tournament on.

Standard constructed eh? Time to get my skates on and get back into deckbuilding rather than playing Street Fighter IV!

CHANGE OF PLANS!

Forgot that the Exeter Regionals is on the 14th of March, so I'm going to be changing the date of the tournament to Friday the 20th March instead, everything else is the same as far as rules are concerned. :D

Just got the patch up prizes as well, so there will be EVEN MORE incentive to play in this constructed tournament as a standalone tournament, so don't be disheartened if you're not near the top of the league, you'll still have a major incentive to play and steal the top spot for this tournament at least :D

Ah, thanks Joe. This helps a great deal.

I was a little unhappy with the original date due to other things going on that day.

Ok guys, since we're trying to make this the biggest tournament in Colchester we've had to date, could we show a little more entusiasm about it please? I think Ricky and myself are the only people to have even acknowledged it so far, and to be honest, after this amount of work gettin everything together, I'd like some help making it worth going to, if you please...

With such a momentous event, I feel that my performance will need to be at its best, So to be at my best I am expecting the other participants to do the same thing play at there to make the final ladder league event a tournament to remember for the ages..

With Exeter being the week before the deck I use for that I will ues for the Ladder League Finale tournament, So as I said all you guys entering I expect some awesome games from you all..

You can count on it no matter how long it takes i will get my deck up to scratch

I'll try and make it to this one Joe. No guarantees, it'll depend on work, but I'll do my best.

well it doesnt mean i cant still win the tornement does it. lol

Not if Chun Li has anything to say about it...

REMINDER!!

The Ladder League Finale is next Friday, so don't forget! I'd like to get a count on who's coming to this monumental occasion so's I know what to expect :D

As far as I know, all previous attendees will be entering the tournament which include:

Kyle (Soki)
Ricky (Son Gopaul)
Paul (Theo)
Alex (Squall14)
Jonathan (Crazy Elf)
Dan (Nemesis)
Aaron
Matt C
Rob (Chaos_Child)
Stephen
David (Davachido)
Matt P
Chris
Lee (R. Fluxing)
Jonny Ellis

I'd like to see other people coming to this tournament, don't forget. Any less than 16 players, and I'll be unhappy! As a message to anyone who've played in any of my tournaments previously, if you know anyone, and I mean ANYONE who has played UFS before, get them involved, as it means that there will be people there of all skill levels, and it might instill the competetive edge for people to play in the game just before the new Shadowar set and Soul Calibur set comes out :D

COME ON YOU MAGGOTS! LETS GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!!!

Love Joe gran_risa.gif

Wont be playing. Sorry.

I know this is last minute, but does anybody have a couple of copies of Flames of Fame that I could borrow for tomorrow? I've had another bright idea happy.gif

I personally haven't, but I'm sure someone has, I'll ask around for you :)

how many i have 3 that u should be able to borrow

Tourny was great!
good ending to a good set of tournaments.
dont want to put too much because i think Joe is planning to post all the results and info at some point so il let him do that and then we can all comment!
Just wanted to say well done to joe for managing to run such a fun set of tournaments!

Cheers Joe!
Theo

Awww, thanks sonrojado.gif

Yes, I will post up the results as soon as I can, but I'm supposed to be moving house this weekend (anyone fancy living in Colchester with me? :P ) so I've got to get that done and out of the way first, but I will try and do it as quickly as I can.
