No Attachments and Challenging with Zero STR?

By JCourtney, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

If my opponent has a character card that reads, "No Attachments" that means that I can't play negative attachment / condition cards on that card right?

If I put a negative STR condition attachment card on a opponent character that brings their STR to 0, can they still challenge with that card? If they can and nothing blocks them, can they win undefended with 0 STR?

However, the rules do place a STR requirement on winning and opposing a challenge. You cannot win a challenge (as attacker or defender) unless you have at least 1 participating character and a total challenge STR of 1 or more. Similarly, you cannot oppose a challenge (as the defender) unless you have at least 1 participating character and a total challenge STR of 1 or more. There are very, very few situations where you will have only 0 STR characters and still manage to get a total challenge STR of 1 or more (the multiplayer titles are about the only way).

So, in your example, there is no problem with using that 0 STR character as your only attacker. But even if the defender doesn't declare a defender, you would count 0 for your total attacking STR. Since you didn't count at least 1, you don't win the challenge. Since you don't win the challenge, you don't get the bonus power for winning the challenge unopposed, either.
