Crashing

By Trumpet, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Can you crash into another ship I know you can crash into asteroids but I haven't read about ships?

Not normally. There is a type of critical hit you can take that forces a damage check whenever you overlap with something, but you don't normally take damage for ending movement on another ship. I can see kamikaze rules popping up eventually though.

Its not technically crashing either. When, at the end of your move, your ship overlaps another ships base, it just gets moved back. No damage but no action either. I think the logic is that in 3D space, you have to make a maneuver to avoid a collision which causes you to lose your action. The only thing that I would consider a true collision is if you were to fail your roll with the asteroid, and that damage would destroy your ship. Just my 2 credits.

As per the rules and the example in the rule book it gets moved back and loses its action, See my new post I head a head on collision so the two ships front pegs would always hit the other ship , therefore every turn both would collide and lose an action until one is destroyed .

Ignore my last post - ships can freely move through other ships only moving back and losing an action if they END move overlapping.

I really dislike the overlapping ships rule how u have to move back again or dont get to complete your full move. The canceling your action part is way to harsh in my opinion an i think this actually can penalize the ships/better pilots that move last the the round as they r now faced with more ships to collide with! an essentially will lose their action(s). Isn't the intention to give the best pilot the advantage of moving last? this rule to me seems counter-intuitive :(

i think i would rather see a rule like:

both overlapping ships roll 1 defense dice. If they successfully roll an evade icon then they get to do an action as normal. Pilots with the Expert Handling pilot skill would get 2 defense die.

I also think that movement of all ships SHOULD BE simultaneous however ACTIONS should still be selected in order according to pilot skill/agility as normal. This still gives the pilot going later in the round an opportunity to see what actions others have chosen before hey select their own action.
