Exciting uses for Zen

By TalenScathe, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

So, I've been trying to hunt stuff down online, but haven't been very successful. So I decided to make an account on the forums and start something up!

I'm fairly new to Anima (We had two very quick TPK's, and with our third go around our GM has graced us and allowed us to live to level 5).

That being said, for the first time I now have a character that has Zen. I was super excited to get there, as I roleplayed out this awakening moment for my character and it was totally awesome, but now that I have Zen I don't really know what to do with it. I have some extra points to spend in secondary abilities and wanted to get some community feedback on what Zen makes possible in different areas. I know that a Zen difficulty in sleight of hand lets you catch projectiles, Zen in climb allows you to effectively walk up walls, and Zen in stealth let's you disappear in sunlight, but I'm not sure about the others.

I'd appreciate anything you guys can tell me. I want to make sure that I get the most out of the Zen ability since it's taken me 3 characters to get it. happy.gif

I think of Zen like this;

In my book, Zen = Freedom of creativity.

Literally, the fabric of reality is yours to alter as you and your dice see fit. The example written in Core Exxet is 'Riding on a beam of light'.
SERIOUSLY. A beam of light. sorpresa.gif

My understanding is that you are only limited by your imagination here for what you can attempt to accomplish.

I am fairly new to Anima as well though, ( gui%C3%B1o.gif ) and am interested to hear what other, more knowledgable and experienced players think. Maybe some examples of times it has seen use in your campaigns?

Misspoke, not Core Exxet. Just the core rulebook. In case it mattered for some strange reason.

Hahahahaha well hello there, greedyjujo. Long time no see. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Yeah hopefully we can get some cool ideas, as my imagination has been pretty limited on the matter.

On the official Anima Forum, someone suggested that a Zen roll on Memorise allows you to remember stuff from a past life, which most people thought was a pretty cool idea.

Oh man. That would actually be perfect, as with my character I'm roleplaying out that he has suppressed memories from his past, and that each time he uses Transformation: The Awakening he can't remember anything that occurred. So for him it wouldn't even have to be a past life, just remembering stuff from his current life would be an upgrade for him. happy.gif
