Wave 2

By pitsch, in X-Wing

I have PreOrdered the Falcon and Slave 1, How many for the A-Wing ans Tie Int should i pick up as well?

The Interceptor looks like it's going to be a staple of Imperial squads. I'm expecting to pick up at least 3.

The A-Wing seems more like a specialist. I'll probably start with 2 and see how they fit into my squads before adding more.

Exactly what I picked up as well.

Hello.

Where are you seeing the ability to pre-order?? I think I am losing my mind!

I think the pre-ordering is being done through another vendor that isn't FFG. Check with your local game store.

miniature market and Coolstuff.com have preorders avail.

That's coolstuffinc.com, but yes them and miniaturemarket.com have pre-orders for ~33% off and free shipping over $100.

Ive preordered 1 Falcon, 1 Slave 1, 3 A-Wings and 6 Interceptors. I'm still thinking of adding 3 more Interceptors. I have always loved that ship.

TY!!! ans Done!!

1 Falcon

1 Slave I

2 A-Wings

4 TIE Interceptors

Let the swarm of TIEs begin!

In Star Wars the squads tend to consist of 1 leader with two wingmen, therefore I buy 3 of every ship (of course just 1 of the Falcon and the Slave I):

3 Tie Interceptor

3 A-Wings

1 Falcon

1 Slave I

Same here. Of course, with 'points' it often doesn't work out that way on the table, but I'm still compelled to buy in threes. Which is odd for the rebels, as Red Squadron had what, five ships?

Besides having new ships , maybe you could also have an "Imperial Fleet" starter set and the same thing for the Rebel Alliance.

Then when you get around to making Star destroyers we will have the squadrons of Tie fighters needed to attack the planets the rebel scum are defending and wipe them out for ever mwuahahahaha!

I know it is a little off topic, but what would people recommend I buy of each current and future model (i.e. wave 1 &2)

So far I have:

2 X-wings

2 TIE Fighters

1 Y-Wing

1 TIE Advanced - Do you need more than 1 of these since Vader is going to be used more often than not?

I will be getting at least 1 of each of the wave 2 ships (obviously we don't need more than 1 of the falcon and Slave I) but I am unsure what would be a good number for a varied number of scenarios and organised play. In a perfect world I would buy 10 or more of the fighters each.

Thanks in advance, can't wait for wave 2.

Do you know the date it is comming out?

I assume the two TIE fighters are from the Core Set? If so, you'll likely want one TIE Expansion for the new cards.

As to what else, if funds are limited, start by deciding which side you prefer to play. If its Rebels, you'll probably want to have at least 4 X-Wings and two Y-Wings. If you favor Imperial, I would get a second TIE Advanced and as many TIEs as you can afford (a 100 pt. TIE swarm can consist of 8 TIE fighters…).

Remember, for TIEs and X-Wings, you'll want one of each expansion for the new cards, but after that it actually works out cheaper to buy additional Core Sets. For the wave 2 ships, the same principles would hold true, a couple A-Wings for Rebels, 3 or more TIE Interceptors if Imperial.

After you've got your preferred 'core force', add to it when possible as desired, focusing on ships you need to try different load-outs that intrigue you.

Thanks for reminding me about the extra cards in the standard TIE expansion I shall have to order one soon. The current TIE's I have are from the core set yes.

Thanks for the advice Baphomet69 :) I will probably order those numbers next month when I get more cash. I generally play with friends so a balanced number of ships for choice is what I would like optimally, but a gaming club I sometimes go to has started running matches so I will probably go for a rebel force there.
