2 Champs and a Chump Episode 82- House of Black and White Review

By Kennon, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I liked this episode. I do have a small administrative suggestion though. In my pod cast app, it would be awesome if the episode number was at the front of the episode name instead of at the end. The name is long enough where the right side gets clipped off and there is no way to see which episode number i am looking at unless i open each individual record. This might just be the apps problem though and not yours.

Oh, I think I can fix the number/titling thing going forward.

Any thoughts from folks on the Top and Bottom this time around? I figured some folks would disagree with Brett's push to have The House of Black and White in the bottom 5 for sure, and I expected some folks to disagree with our attachment filled Top 5. Do folks agree that this pack shows a good direction for attachments to move?

I completely disagreed with the noyne opinion…….until i played with it.

I've always figured that attachments are problematic to balance. On this pack, as I posted on CardgameDB, I disagree with you guys about Banner Bearer.

Any attachment worth playing is replacing a character, who can be claim-soak, played independently of board position, and could be played on setup… Add in the fact that they are vulnerable to both attachment removal (Esp Tin Link) *and* character removal, they need to be superb to see play.

I think that some attachments in this pack are great - Banner Bearer is versatile (can be used as attachment removal!) and fun, Enslaved might be enough to see play (don't think it will see much, though), and Dragonbone dagger's recursion is enough to offset the inherent "Card disadvantage" of an attachment.

Greyscale, although really interesting in design, and Poisoned Coin, although pretty decent, just don't strike me as quite good enough (unless you can recur it with Glover or Chains).

Cowed just seems bad.

Clearly, we disagree on Poisoned Coin and Banner Bearer - I see Poisoned coin as a less efficient character removal than many of the targeted kills stark has access to, for a greater gold cost (and lesser card cost), and no luwin to draw into it. It's most likely just a Fishing Net that doesn't strip the target's dominance strength, and can be bypassed at the cost of losing the character and giving the opponent a card.

And while I don't think Noyne is top 5 material, I think it's a good card… the cost is small (a card), the benefit can be quite useful (although usually only somewhat), and it makes for some even more interesting melee play.
