OK so my opponent is only six years old and we were playing the quick start rules. BUT he did kill my Obsidian pilot on the second turn. Most of the rest of the game was spend whittling down the x-wing shield followed by some skirting in and out of firing arcs. The final turn had us both with only 2 hull points each and facing each other about 8" apart. Xwing fired but missed two shots with the TIE dodging the third. The TIE then pulled two hits that the Xwing simply couldn't evade and it was thus destroyed.
I then spent the next 20 minutes explaining that it's the playing of the game that counts, not just the winning. I eventually got the sulking to stop.
He'll beat me tomorrow when I let him use R2-D2 as the eagle eyed bugger noticed the 4 point deficit of the rebel player for that game. I'll also introduce red and green maneuver rules.
