masquerade ball…change the rewards?

By schmoo34, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Masquerade ball is a fun quest to do…however, the rewards stink. The trinket is not very useful for Heroes or OL. Or rather, it is useful, but comparatively speaking with the other items available, it is commonly rated low. I'd rather get +25 GP or +1 xp or the staff of light or just about any other Act 1 reward. So I'm finding in my games that this quest is often skipped just due to the low reward.

I even analyzed the Act 2 quests which would result in a hero win to see if that led to dividends and it really does not matter much.

Has anyone else found this to be true? Or is our group somehow devaluing this artifact (the bones trinket) more than we should? I'm thinking of adding a +1 xp or +25 GP reward to it as a house rule just so we can have it back in the lineup.

If OL gets to pick, might pick this quest as it benefits the heroes least. That's the way I went during Act 2 of the current campaign, I didn't want to touch the quest that could give the heroes Dawnblade and being in control of choosing the quests, naturally picked the ones that gave out the least rewards from the hero POV, although won all Act 2 quests as OL.

As the OL that won Masquerade Ball, I found the Bones of Woe to be especially useful for getting more cards and that extra card has been useful most of the time. Don't knock it till any of your Lieutenants have been running around using it to help further your diabolic schemes.

Yeah, I think the Bones might be useful, but it kind bums me that you have to have a Lt. out to use a Relic, meaning often you'll only get them for Encounter 2, which can end quickly.

It may or may not end quickly depending on how the OL plays and picks the open groups.
