The Asgardian Rangers

By Turpin, in Dark Heresy

I've been roaming around the web and I found an Imperial Guard Regiment called the Asgardian Rangers. They are from a fuedal planet and have told how to use a Lasgun/Long las. They are consider the best scouts ever know and have surpast Scout Marines, they are also known to actually use mounted animals that have been augmented to be more durable. Now I was just thinking if a Scout Marine is technically a super human wouldn't his stats be in the 40's? I can agree that Fellowship, Willpower, and Intelligence are debatable based on the actual person. Now would that mean Asgardian Rangers would have higher agility and int?

What iam really asking is how you'd stat a scout marine and a asgardian ranger. Note that they are not feral but fuedal.

Errr... well.. um... better then a Space Marine Scout... hmmm...

I don't think I'd increase their attributes any, since the attributes of the Space Marines are augmented while I'm going to assume that since the Asgardians are a Guards Regiment their pretty much normal.

My guess is though that they're very similiar to the stereotype of Native American Scouts though why they'd be from a Fuedal and not a Feral world is beyond me. I always pictured Feral Worlders to be a better Huntsman then a Fuedal (who generally have high agriculture) so would be better adapted to the world of tracking and hiding from dangerous prey.

My guess, from the name... is that its loosely based on a world with very long winters and short summers, so that may have something to do with their weighing of hunting over agriculture, then fuedal as based more on viking fuedal then Charlemagne fuedal, and possibly you'd have it.

High almost max unaugmented human agility to keep their footing on ice, high perception, again almost max unaugmented human since they need to track in blinding snowstorms, and see over vast ice plateaus, and then for skills superior stealth and tracking type abilities.

But I wouldn't make their attributes anywhere near Space Marines, just better skilled. Plus normal humans tend to be smaller then Space Marines, making them easier to hide and sneak, plus scouts don't tend to like to toe to toe fight, making them less reliant on attributes again, and more on skills that allow them to fade away. So you want them small and sleak, and trained from birth to track things over vast distances while remaining hidden from their prey, and their enemies kings scouts as well.
